France warning of war with Iran
French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner says the world should prepare for war over Iran's nuclear programme.

"We have to prepare for the worst, and the worst is war," Mr Kouchner said in an interview on French TV and radio.

He was speaking ahead of a visit to Russia on Monday, during which Iran is likely to feature prominently.

Iran's nuclear programme will also be one of the main issues for the UN nuclear watchdog's annual conference, starting in Vienna on Monday.

Iran denies it is trying to acquire nuclear weapons, and says it only wants nuclear power to generate electricity for civilian purposes.

But it has repeatedly rejected UN demands to give up the enrichment of uranium, which the US and other Western states fear is being diverted to a nuclear weapons project.

2. Would think Russia and China would be plenty
:scared:

All the more reason to start impeachment of Bush and Cheney. This is a war that cannot be allowed to be begun.

10. Because neither has the capability ...
To project significant force far beyond their own borders short of nukes.

3. This is US propaganda...
The United States is trying to soften us up to the notion of killing millions of
innocent people in Iran.

Instead of saying it themselves, they're using French leaders.

What the hell is wrong with the French? Is Kouchner the new Blair?

4. It isn't US propaganda any more than it is French propaganda
It's globalist propaganda. People trying to stoke the war machine and make money. That transcends nations.

9. I am not a warmonger, says Kouchner

Paris - French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner tried to distance himself from statements he had made that the Iranian nuclear crisis could lead to war by saying that he was in favour of a negotiated settlement, the daily Le Monde reported on Tuesday.

"I do not want it said that I'm a warmonger. My message was one of peace, serious and determined," Kouchner said on the aircraft taking him to Moscow.

He was reacting to a storm of criticism he had unleashed by saying late Sunday, in regard to Iran's nuclear program, "It is necessary to prepare for the worst," and added, "The worst, sir, is war."

He told journalists traveling to Moscow with him, "War is the worst case. To avoid that, the French stance is negotiate, negotiate, negotiate until the end. And to work with our European friends on credible sanctions" against Iran.

He added: "We will be happy if there are new UN sanctions. If there are not, we will in any case draw up new sanctions." - Sapa-DPA
