I am getting the message that I should not vote for either Edwards or Kucinich because
Edwards lives in a big house and gets expensive haircuts

and

The only two automatic adjectives that automatically go into any discussion of Kucinich are "elfin" or its alternate "unelectable"

No matter what their stands on particular issues are. Are we as shallow as some would have us believe?

6. mostly from the larger media outside this board
although many on this board were very willing to throw Edwards out due to the size of his house and many on this board will also tell you that DK is unelectable and that a vote for him is wasted. Why they have made this determination I do not know. It is early days yet.

7. OK. I agree - thought for a moment you were getting unsolicited
e-mail messages.

I agree. People buy into the Reagan mold. They think someone must 'look Hollywood presidential'. We should grow up together and cross the line to reality.

Edwards has enough money to not have to take campaign money from lobbyists and people ignore that.

2. To start with, elves are pretty cool people. Or cool elves, or whatever one says.
In most of the folk tales they're land spirits -- playful, resourceful, cunning, strategic, often allies of good.

And they contributed to world-saving in Tolkien's RING trilogy.

Ya can't sneeze at a record like that.

As for Edwards, I read the speeches and heard him from 04 on. Those trials give a wider glimpse into his soul than the house, and he has one of the best wives who ever walked the planet.

I trust either one of these guys with power. I don't trust the media with it much at all.

5. I'm voting Elf in 08
We humans have fucked the planet totally. The elves might be able to salvage the mess we've made.

8. Apparently the media thinks so
and it looks like enough vote accordingly. The MSM graveyard is full of media fatalities - Dukakis, Kerry, McGovern, Gore (to name a few). I can only conclude that the the MSM wants to derail any candidate with a brain. On second thought, birds of a feather...

9. Yes, you're right, but Gore is different in that he arose from the
fatal posture in which the MSM had placed him and became an international statesman. If the public wants Hollywood handsome, Gore fits the bill. He is tall and anything but elfin.

who suffered a significant negative impact from repeated words and phrases used by the media.

15. Alexander the Great, Napoleon & Fiorello La Guardia were all short
in stature but very long on leadership. The same goes for Kucinich.
