Support Kucinich: Protest at Davenport Debate 9/20!
from the kucinich site
http://action.dennis4president.com/blog/view/id_1451/

As we know, Kucinich, who is the only voice for a single payer universal health care system, was not invited to the Harkin Steak Fry, a very important event for Iowa, and has been excluded from the debate in Davenport this Thursday. If anyone has the inspiration to go to Iowa, the plan is to protest at the entrance of the Adler Theater (136 E. 3rd Street/Davenport, IA 52801) where the debate is being held this Thursday the 20th from 5 to 7 PM.
If you're unable to make the trip, please complain about this unfair decision to AARP (1-888-687-2277; can't find an e-mail address for complaints/comments) and to PBS (http://www.pbs.org/aboutsite/aboutsite_feedback.html).

1. What is the rationale for DK being cut out of these Iowa debates?
Even though Edwards is my 2nd choice behind DK, I can't help but wonder if his campaign somehow is behind excluding DK. Edwards is leading in Iowa, the only place. If DK is included, he might take votes away from Edwards.
This is the only thing I can come up w/on why DK is not included. Especially when Dodd, Biden, etc. are included w/lower numbers.

We need to make this a national item, not just an Iowan item. People need to know that the only candidate that truly speaks for them is deliberately being excluded from the dance.

2. Edwards did want to cut him out of the debates
I do remember MSNBC promising a smaller debate with just Kucinich, Edwards and Hillary. That would be really great(and highly unlikely) if they followed through.

I think if supporters gather outside the debate in Iowa, that will make the news and raise some questions.

3. Yes, I remember when Edwards & Hillary had their side conversation when the mikes were on.
After thinking more about this, I can't lay it all on Edwards.

It's the DNC. Kucinich & Gravel aren't beholden to them & they don't like it. Gravel isn't a threat, but DK is gaining ground. There is a growing silent support for DK across the country. Mostly the average, mind-their-own-business working person, who doesn't make a lot of waves, or wave the flag....but their votes count as much as anyone else's.

Unless the voting machines are rigged again.:eyes:

6. "Unless the voting machines are rigged again"
Nothing has changed and they probably rig the primary as well.

4. These primaries are such a joke.
Seriously. Not funny, but a joke none the less.

Bummer for Kucinich.

5. We made our phone call to IA, AARP
Hope others will. Told them we'd send their membership requests back unopened, should they not display some sense of fairness. The AARP betrayed us over Part D of Medicare, why won't they do it again.

7. Protesting is more fun than knocking on doors and phone banking!
Enjoy yourself.

9. Its sarcasm
but I'm making a real point here. If the Kucinich campaign put in the time and organization to have volunteers doing that kind of hard field work on the ground in Iowa, then he might not be in this situation.

But really... was he excluded from this debate for lack of voter outreach?
