Citizens for Tax Justice? |
|
Never heard of this organization, which does not mean much, however, the director was quoted, in a WSJ report of the recent tax proposals by Obama and Clinton:
"I have no problem with them trying to undo all or most of the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy even if it's only for a couple of years, but there are so many huge fiscal problems that we should be very careful about proposing new trivial programs when there's so many real big programs we need to do something about," said Bill McIntyre, director of Citizens for Tax Justice, a left-leaning Washington think tank.
(Medicare and Social Security were mentioned)

1. The right says that we cannot afford Medicare and social security so we should get rid of them. |
|
The left says we need social security and Medicare so we need to ensure their survival. The left wants to use taxes for that purpose. The right wants to keep the tax cuts because they don't need social security or Medicare, the wealthy ones that is. What I don't see is how working class freepers can agree with the wealthy on the right since they need Medicare and social security.
That's how I view it.

2. Been around awhile actually. |

Since about 1979. I do not really think of them as being all that liberal, but I guess that is coming from my perspective. They focus on the regressivity of our tax structure and corporate welfare. All around a decent organization.
