Poll question: Should CNN/LA Times exclude Kucinich and Sharpton |
|
There is a possibility that the news organizations that will put on -possibly the last - Democratic Presidential debate may exclude Al Sharpton and Dennis Kucinich.
Do you agree?

but they will anyways. Too controversial, too damaging to BFEE.

12. How much more of a ridiculous statement can you make? |
|
Giving the stage to Edwards and Kerry helps the BFEE?
It's the fucking Freepers that want to run Kucinich and Sharpton. Then Bush would win in a landslide. How do ya like them apples?

14. Someday you'll realize what Dennis has done for you |
|
Someday you'll realize the depth he has already contributed to the debates.
Someday you'll understand what you could have had by being there for him.
Someday.....
The day will come when many will regret not having taken the opportunity.
He's here now.
Try to give him a bit of a break.

18. how about this: "Orville, it'll never fly" |
|
I never said run them against Bush, maybe I should have made the point clearer. When you have candidates that are farther to the left it provides a contrast to the more moderate ones, and actually helps the moderate candidates relative to the republican.
Talking points about AWOL, lying about Iraq, etc. all get talked about in much more blunt terms by Sharpton and Kucinich who really don't have anything to loose by bringing the points up.
any other questions?

(Project Vote Smart), there are 64 declared Democratic candidates for the Presidential nomination. Are you saying that all 64 should be allowed? If not some reasonable threshhold must be used. The one CNN/LA Times chose is fairly reasonable, 15% in any primary (not caucus). Neither Sharpton or Kucinich have reached that level. Now, CNN/LA Times are free to disregard the specific cutoff and lower the bar so that Sharpton and Kucinich can participate. There are arguments both for and against their partcipation, the only thing I take contention with is the attitude that its unreasonable to exclude them.

Choose to exclude the candidate I'm voting for, and you've excluded my vote. Must not need it.

15. what if kucinich and sharpton agree to it ? |
|
what if kucinich and sharpton agree to allowing it to be just an edwards kerry debate ? i know edwards really wants this debate. and as a kerry supporter i do think edwards would most likely do better in the debate. but i would still be all for the debate depending on what kucinich and sharpton have to say about it.

21. They have those kinds of debates all the time |
|
its just usually not broadcast on the air.
If they agreed to it I'd be disappointed but accept their judgement (though I highl doubt they would)

I doubt that they want to be excluded.
Regardless, if Dennis isn't debating, I'm not watching.

22. Kucinich is already confirmed for Sunday's debate |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-18-04 09:14 AM by goodhue
Indeed, Kucinich just had to reschedule well-publicized Sunday morning Duluth appearance to Friday evening in order to make it to LA in time. So unless you know seomthing I don't, there is no possibility of his exclusion. Greenfield be damned.
