Rightwing Nutjobs already "Gore-ing" General Clark's appearance on Daily Show

Jon Stewart was discussing the difficulties American soldiers face in Iraq when they have so many rules to follow about how to treat civilians. The General said:

WESLEY CLARK: But if you didn't have those rules of engagement, like we had in some units at the outset where you just sort of knocked on doors and roughed people up. Well, look, I mean, in America, think of how it would be. I'm from Arkansas, but think of how it would be anywhere in the states, you know? An invading force comes in. They're wearing space helmets.

JON STEWART: You're talking Red Dawn aren't you? Are you talking Red Dawn?

CLARK: Sort of like that. But they're space invaders. They have laser weapons and stuff and bust down your doors and rough up your women and throw you on the ground, really, I mean.

I'm sure YOU all get his point without any further explanation, quotation, or even the full context of his words. But the rightwingers? Their blogs are shrieking this morning:

1. There is an up side to this...

At least some of the rightwingers are watching a show that shines a light of truth on what is happening.
Would that it actually begin to open up the minds of some of those folks (I know, it's a stretch, but I'm
trying to have an optimistic outlook).

Don't you think if the hate mongers were to watch a show such as his, they would only do it once - - then kick in their sets. These thugs are not nice.

3. True. They seem to be working at stupidity, though.

I mean, they must be TRYing to misinterpret things so idiotically. Reminds me a bit of Phil Hartmann's "Caveman Lawyer," who used being a caveman to excuse whatever he felt like doing ("I'm just a caveman, I don't understand your strange ways," etc.).
