Has anyone heard anything about Kerry possibly coming in to Presidential Race? |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-20-07 12:15 PM by KoKo01
Lots of Buzz about him lately. Both Russert and Tweety have had him on their shows.
Any guesses?

No more Kerry!
He made the right decision to not run and he better stay there in the Senate, he is good there. Kerry is not a good candidate for president it turned out to be abundantly clear.

4. No. He has been one of the point man for Iraq policy in the senate, trying to push |
|
for a deadline, and this is why he was recently on many shows, but nothing particular except that.

8. Do you have any reason to believe that or is it just because he was on TV??? |
|
He is still a US senator with a serious reputation in foreign policy, and he was on TV because of that. Nothing really surprising. Boxer is on quite often and she is not running, to the best of my knowledge (though it would be nice).

9. With the underwhelming Dem support |
|
it's no wonder he's giving it a pass. If I were him, I'd seriously consider spending the rest of my days enjoying my family. Who needs to work themselves into the dirt, be called on to solve every crisis, and then get turned on by a pack of rabid dogs any time the sailing turns the slightest bit rough. No, he isn't going to be running. We're probably going to get Hillary instead, good work netroots.

Remembering when he stood on the Senate floor and January and said he would not run.
My guess, he won't run but maybe is being considered by some frontrunners for a serious cabinet position (AG or something like that).

And that will remain his greatest focus.

He is however a top foreign policy Democrat - when the issue if Iraq or other foreign policy issues - he is one of those who are the leaders. He did an incredible job with McCain.

27. I think 2008 should be an easy year for Democrats - the easiest |
|
since 1992 and 1996. Any Democrat should win - The polls of generic Democrat vs Generic Republican are a landslide for the Democrat. In a fair world, he would have won 2004 in a landslide.
In the NYC book event, he said that whoever wins in 2008 has the potential to be one of the greatest Presidents because of all the challenges that they absolutely must face. I am more convinced that he has the potential to do those things than any of the people running. At least he will be in the Senate working on defing legislation to do many of those things.

But based on what I saw in 2000 and 2004 I'm not betting the farm on it. Dumbya was a weak candidate by any standard and he "won" twice using every dirty trick in the book, which makes me think they could run just about anybody against HRC and win. They've had 8 years to get their ducks in a row and they've been busy. For example those US attorney's Rove put in place are still there as far as I know.

25. Because he is a top Iraq and foreign policy expert |
|
For years, before he ran for President - when there were foreign policy/national security issues, Kerry was often on tv - often with McCain. (Who may have learned not to appear with Kerry after the last appearance.)
He was very clear in his reason - he really has been working very hard on both the Iraq and other foreign policy problems and the environment, where people like Boxer always praise his suggestions and knowledge. On Iraq, I would bet that had he stayed in the race, you would not have all the Democrats behind what is really Kerry/Feingold.

Not that he's not a great senator, of course, but his days as a serious Presidential candidate ended in 04.

22. Yep - because fascists will pull every trick in the book to keep an anti-corruption, |

open government Democrat out of the oval office.
And that includes the fascists in his own party.
With Kerry in office Dubai would not be so happy would they?

23. Depends on what you mean by serious. |
|
If you mean possessed with a Lady Macbeth-like obsession, then he's probably not that serious. If you mean qualified, he's far more serious than any other contender, on either side.

26. No, he's running for re-election to the Senate to represent Massachusetts |
|
The reason why he's been on those shows is because he is one of the leading voices on Iraq policy, arguing for a deadline for withdrawal, AND he's not running for president.
I still think he would make a great president, but that is not in the cards for him in '08.

Yes, he and Gore are going to announce their intentions together in a joint press conference coming soon. While it is not yet decided who will be P and who will be VP, there is no doubt that Gore and Kerry will toss their hats into the ring. And what a glorious day it will be!
