Open Left will have a list of the Dems who voted to condemn Move On.
http://openleft.com/showDiary.do?diaryId=1465

"The GOP-introduced resolution condemning MoveOn just passed by a huge margin, 72-25. Roughly half the Democrats in the Senate supported it.

A couple of the more interesting votes: Jim Webb, who just yesterday was a Netroots hero, voted for it, even though the last thing he needs as a military guy is cover on something like this.

Meanwhile, Hillary -- who's been under assault by Rudy for refusing to condemn MoveOn but who's also locked in a tough Dem primary -- stood her ground and voted No.

We'll have a list of Dems who backed this thing and Dems who voted against it in a bit. Stay tuned."

But I can already take a good guess as to which ones they are. These are patterns I have been noting for the last three years.

I hate to think they are not for free speech, so I will just for the moment go with "stupid." Or "fearful"

Moveon and CodePink often do things that are not good for the party. When Moveon first got started I thought they were great but now they are often over the top. Also code pink is sometimes putting a bad light on us.

Ya know, some of us believe that ending this illegal and immoral occupation should be TOP PRIORITY. Yes, <shriek> even above party loyalties. You know KILLING in War sort of makes it more important than political bent.

when you put yourself out there as a public figure you have to expect that someone will have something to say about you. Betray-us needs to grow a spine. So does congress. It's about time someone put together a list of things on which the republicans have obstructed (for reference of course). You know we're going to need it.

Is not whether the MoveOn ad was effective or wrong or whatever.

Its that Congress should not be passing resolutions condemning an advocacy group simply because they spoke in impolite terms about the face of military policy for the administration.

5. 11% approval
of Congress just took a nosedive in my book. What is the use of supporting Dems any more?
This should never have even come to the floor for a vote!
But since it did, it should have been shot down swiftly!

Thanks, Sen. Boxer, but I am truly doubting that "elections have consequences" when our Dem majority is so hapless.

64. Sorry just a little touchy latley.
I just think that it hard enough living in a Red State if your a Moderate Dem, but if your a lefty like you and me it is especially hard. Both my parents are moderate Dems., and we all opposed the war at the onset, which in the eyes of our friends, and coworkers made us look crazy at the time. I just think that Dems in red states actually need more support than the Blue State Dems, and labeling us as the problem is just a cop out for the fact that we can't get anything done without a super majority. We need support not blame. Blame should be focused were it is truly deserved. The fascist that wormed their way into our government by rigging elections, and suppressing the votes of the American people.

This is an incredible smokescreen, a classic instance of both misdirection and shooting the messenger.

Republicans kill efforts to supply needed leave for the military. Support our troops, my ass.
Republicans kill efforts to restore 700-year-old tradition of habeas corpus. Who needs the foundation of modern democracy?

And with this, where is the outrage focused?

On MoveOn.

45. Obama is on Senate record as "Not voting". To abstain is different.
For whatever reason, Obama was not present (along with Biden and Cantwell) to cast a vote.

To abstain is to cast a vote but to support neither a positive or negative recommendation.

When asked about condemning the MoveOn ad:

"I am less interested in the motives or what General Petraeus or Ambassador Crocker are responsible for than I am for what the president is responsible for, and that is the mission that has been assigned to those people. I think the mission is a failure."

The really sick part of this is that the senate refused to also pass a resolution condemning all the rightwing ads attacking Democratic military heroes, such as Max Cleland (lost two legs and an arm in Vietnam) and John Kerry (won Silver Star in Vietnam).

YOU can contribute to MoveOn.org (to show support for all they have done for ALL the causes we care about) at: https://pol.moveon.org/donate/donate.html
