1. It had nothing to do with political courage
They were probably off campaigning somewhere. Their votes would not have changed the outcome of anything.

4. That's what he does to political legislation apparently
He just boycotts it. He shouldn't have voted on either one.

10. Biden is not off campaigning. He is there and scheduled to address the Senate
shortly. Until or if I learn differently, I view Biden's abstinence as a statement of how he felt on such a lame bill.

HE is the one who displayed political courage. I'd like to have seen him take the floor and simply say "Shut The Fuck Up - People Are DYING"

It was a BS bill that didn't deserve to be acknowledged in the first place.

6. Since Biden is actually present, I interpret his abstaining as a statement. Obama
left for a campaign appointment before this came up for vote, so I don't know if we can view is abstinence as courage or absence. Personally, I don't think he 'chickened' out, but may have voted if he hadn't had to leave.n Can't second-guess him, though.

Biden, I'm hoping, will come out with a strong statement on why it was so ludicrous and shouldn't have even been on the Senate floor.

16. All of the Dems should have sat it out.
I have no answer about Biden.

On Sunday he said that even tho he didn't agree with the Moveon ad, that they had every right to do it.
That it was an expression of the frustration many people feel for this administration not telling us the truth.

20. I think this is what the best option was as well, every Dem should
have agreed to boycott the vote because it was nonsense and not what the Senate should be spending its time on.

There would be fewer posts saying the amendment for condemning criticism against Petraeus and the armed forces is stupid and doesn't mean anything.

I posted this quite some time ago. I've been appalled at DU's priorities all day. Feingold-Reid isn't getting as much attention as this absolutely fucking assinine name-calling is.

36. No I agree that it still concerns dead.......
and the living.....

There have been 4,091 coalition deaths -- 3,792 Americans, two Australians, 169 Britons, 13 Bulgarians, one Czech, seven Danes, two Dutch, two Estonians, one Fijian, one Hungarian, 33 Italians, one Kazakh, one Korean, three Latvian, 21 Poles, two Romanians, five Salvadoran, four Slovaks, 11 Spaniards, two Thai and 18 Ukrainians -- in the war in Iraq as of September 20, 2007, according to a CNN count. (Graphical breakdown of casualties). The list below is the names of the soldiers, Marines, airmen, sailors and Coast Guardsmen whose deaths have been reported by their country's governments. The list also includes seven employees of the U.S. Defense Department. At least 27,936 U.S. troops have been wounded in action, according to the Pentagon.

The list doesn't count the Iraqi dead.

Did anyone die yesterday?

Most likely.
