Iraqis offered new life in Brazil

Ghazi Shaheen's family had to move to a refugee camp in Jordan following the 2003 Iraq invasion
Despite claims by Washington that violence in Iraq has been decreasing, the Iraqi Red Crescent says there was a dramatic increase in the number of Iraqis forced to abandon their homes in August.

The organisation says more than three quarters of the displaced were thought to be women and children under 12 years old.

Most people escaping the violence flee to neighbouring countries.

But many now fail to find safety even after leaving their homes, with some families uprooted two or three times.
