1. But 98% of Iraqis do not WANT this.
Does it make sense?

Yes.

Is it probably the best solution?

You betcha.

Do we need to force another unwanted political structure on the people of Iraq, against their will?

Goodness gracious, I don't know.

But at least it's an unknown that I know is unknown.

3. Wait - the Iraqi's are already doing this on their own - but our administration
is insisting on a Central Gov't.

4. Rachel Maddow cited a poll that said 98% of Iraqis are opposed to that plan.
See, they would rather kill their opposition than share power peacefully, I guess.

Why should the Shiites share power with the 10% Sunni minority that oppressed them, when it seems pretty easy to them to take them out of the equation (Unless Saudi Arabia steps in).

There is a difference between Ethnic Cleansing and a federal system for power sharing.

One is a much more Final Solution than the other.

2. brownback and biden can start to work on creating a democratic system here in the US, and let the
people of Iraq to define their own system.

Troops out now, not the fake plans of these politicians. If such a system were imposed, it would be up to US troops to enforce it? NO WAY.

encourage US military resistance.

5. That won't get us out of Iraq
I urge Congress to pass the Biden-Brownback-Boxer amendment to create a federal system in Iraq, as their Consititution provides, that gives each region of the country control over the daily lives of its citizens, and securing the support of the United Nations and Iraq's neighbors for this plan.

Sheesh. READ IT!!!

6. What don't you understand?
The only way we are going to get out of Iraq permanently is when
they are able to gain control of their own country.

And as long as this administration keeps trying to force them have a central gov't, it's not going to happen.

You do want things to go better in Iraq, don't you?

together since we're responsible for their devastating situation.

13. I want our troops to come home
The government in Iraq is the Iraqi's responsibility, not ours. Babysitting them until they have a stable govt is just colonialism on our part and you bet I oppose that. I also oppose permanent bases, the world's largest embassy we are building there and our hands on their oil.

So I disagree with you but I do believe the republicans who support our continued presence in Iraq would agree with you.

as soon as iraq is free of "foriegn" influance they will restructure their country as they see fit, as I see it no matter what we do as soon as we step foot out of iraq they will attempt to govern iraq as they see fit.

16. I think people would be wise to actually watch the speech
and then comment about the plan. It is the most viable plan that anyone has put forth thus far. Whether we like it or not, stability in the Middle East DOES affect the U.S. Bush has created a huge mess and now it is time for the grownups to step in and try and fix it. As Biden said, the five global players will assist along with the UN, but the boy-king won't ASK!

19. I am curious about one thing about Biden's plan--except for Boxer, where
are all the heavy hitters on the Foreign Relations Committee on this? Why is his co-sponsorship chock-full of people who are not well-known for foreign-policy expertise? This is one of the things that makes me nervous about it.

20. Kerry and Boxer are both on the SFRC and have signed on.

Dodd and Obama are also on the committee, it will be interesting to see if they sign on.

As Biden says, "if you don't like my plan, tell me yours."

As far as heavy hitters - check this out--- former SoS and more
