Well, I thought I could make it... I thought I could watch The War.... |
I thought I could watch it without choking-up, without welling-up...

3. I agree. Ken Burns puts you there. I find it hard to write. |

My husband was watching it and I tried to, but I can't stand the sight of one more dead soldier. Damn all wars and the bastards who start them.

6. It was a very good documentary. |
At the beginning, it jumped around in the timeline a bit, and I wish he'd made the sequence of events clearer in terms of the U-boats, the draft, the aid to Britain and Russia, Pearl Harbor, and then the first US active involvement.

then that sad "America" song came on at the end, and that was it for me--started sniveling.

11. My mother is 81 and has always refused to watch any WWII films |
She says it was too horrible the first time around and she doesn't want to be reminded of it. My father enlisted in the Navy at the very end of the war and spent some time doing electronic communications work on Hawaii.
