Indiana Sen. Bayh to endorse Clinton
http://www.politico.com/news/stories/0907/5978.html

Sen. Evan Bayh (D-Ind.) will endorse Sen. Hillary Clinton (D-N.Y.) on Monday, Democratic sources tell Politico.com.

Bayh is a moderate Democrat whose blessing could help Clinton pick up votes in Republican states.

Indiana is among the most reliably Republican states — “the reddest of the red,” as one Democratic official put it. The Hoosier State went 57 percent for George W. Bush in 2000 and 60 percent for President Bush’s reelection in 2004.

Clinton’s campaign is clearly thrilled to be getting the nod.

“Hillary Clinton to Receive Major National Endorsement on Monday,” said a release from the campaign this evening. The news conference is at 1 p.m. at a hotel on Capitol Hill.

4. I'm a big time liberal originally from Mass
I live in a big time conservative district. There are elections with no Democratic contenders. But talking to the people at the Democratic Headquarters, Bayh is very respected all around. That is my take of it. Unscientific.

10. That is because Bayh has a centrist agenda
and that is where the votes are.

5. Just when I start to think Hilary is on a roll, do you have
turn me away again. Please call a spade a spade.
Bayh is a Conservative Democrat who never misses
and opportunity to show his Corporate Loyalty
and votes with GOP.

7. My sister from Indiana is a bush ass kisser big time
and she will probably mess her pants when she hears this. She was a Clinton Hater. I had to tell her I would not answer her phone calls if she did not stop talking politics. I told her bush was a monster, but you did not hear me scream and holler about it every time we talked. So she shut up.

8. War Lovers Stick Together
Most Congressional Democrats voted against attacking Iraq. Clinton and Bayh are two who voted for war.

13. More congressional endorsements of Hillary are on the way. Perhaps you
can dream up a different negative attack for each congressional Dem who throws in with HRC.

accompany Sen. Clinton on her Middle Eastern Iraq visit a few months back.

What an interesting photo the TIMES captured.

I believe this was just after Bayh had dropped out of the race.

He had raised some considerable money and had put a crack team in place for Iowa.

My suspicion -- that's all it is -- is that some sort of offer was made if he would withdraw those funds and energies from Iowa.

Weeks later, Vilsack followed.

14. Hello OC
The big question is how the Clinton Team will want us all to pronounce Even Bayh's last name. I could see Carville now scratching his bald head figerrin' out what to call it before he blackberry's it to Terry Mac... Is it "bahh" or "boy" or...

:boring:

As in see ya later Bayh. I remember he said he wanted to run in '08.

He is ultra conservative. He's one of the senators that will never give a direct answer when you call or write and won't commit one way or another on a vote. Guess he likes to keep his powder dry. His support comes as no surprise. They keep the beat to the same war drums. And they worked together with Lieberman on FEPA trying to get rid of those pesky evil video games.

Is a testament to Hillary's strength, and to the perception of moderate Democrats in Republican states that their association with her will be of political benefit...

Bayh his an excellent Senator and this is a great endorsement for her!
