Poll question: how often is your Presidential primary candidate nominated?
am I alone? I supported Paul Tsongas in 1992, Bradley in 2000, and Kucinich in 2004. I even voted for Arlen Specter in the 1996 Republican primary, when Clinton had no primary opposition. none of my primary candidates have gotten nominated..for President or Vice President, regardless of which party's primary I voted in.

4. Well I voted for Hubert Humphrey in 1960 & Eugene McCarthy in 1968 &
Paul Simon in 1992 and Bradley in 2000. I've kind of lost what years people ran but I voted for Ted Kennedy, Gary Hart, & Jesse Jackson all at least once
and John Edwards in 2004. I think I voted for Jerry Brown too. Guess I've got to get an Almanac to look up who ran when. I did vote for Lyndon Johnson
in 1964 and was later sorry I did and that might be the only time my candidate got nominated. No, I think I voted for McGovern. In high school I worked
for Averil Harriman (who my Dad said was more liberal than Stevenson).

5. Wanted Glenn in '84 and Hart in '88
but since then my primary candidate preferences have won.

I still think John Glenn would have kicked ass in the general, but our party was adrift then, too.

Clinton in '92 and '96, Gore in '00 and Dean in '04...

So 6 and 1...

Not bad!

7. that's awesome!
6 out of 7 times your primary candidate was nominated. one thing has changed since I've been voting, I spend less time listening to the candidates or what they promise..and more time listening to other primary voters. until Bradley entered the race in 2000, I assumed that Gore would be my primary candidate. but Bradley had a healthcare plan that appealed more to my age group, while the only group Gore would have expanded coverage for were those in their 50's. I started out as a Dean supporter early in 2004, but I voted for Kucinich when Dean dropped out. both Kucinich and Dean had the courage to speak out against the war, even as Democrats like Edwards and Kerry were still supporting it. when I voted for Specter, this was only because Clinton had no opposition. I probably would have voted for Clinton in the 96 Democratic primary, but only if he had been challenged.

I have supported every Democratic nominee since 1992, but I opposed all of them in the Presidential primaries. does this make any difference, or should I find another way of choosing my primary candidates?

12. 0/2
Was for Dean in 2004.

In '00, I was for Bradley. But I was young at the time, and I pulled for him much like I pull for Appalachian State to pull an upset and beat Michigan in football.
