Biden: I totally support the UAW right to strike
“I fully support the UAW’s right to strike,” stated Sen. Biden. “American auto makers have made promises to their hard-working employees, and must do their best to uphold those commitments.”

“Both sides in these talks are stuck between a rock and a hard place,” Sen. Biden continued, “and I urge them to return to the table and find a resolution as quickly as possible.”

Senator Biden remarked, “Today’s events remind us that American auto makers need help with health care costs. To keep health care affordable I believe we have to help employers or union-run health plans with catastrophic costs to keep health care affordable for workers, retirees, and their families.”

1. "True to form" . . .
. . . is a term which comes to us from the world of horseracing. When a race-horse is said to run "true to form" it is meant that he can be counted on to perform as he has in the past.

Senator Biden is the thoroughbred in this race for the presidency. His statement of support for the UAW is a call to all of us to return the American tradition of respect for picket lines and the right of workers to engage in collective bargaining without being undermined by the sort of selfishness that has for far too long charactized the anti-labor attitude on the part of many.

Any candidate can pay lip service to an issue in order to net some votes out of the wind, but Joe Biden has always been a faithful advocate for workers and their unions. And this statement serves to prove that, once again, Joe Biden runs true to form.

Edwards Statement In Support Of Striking UAW Members
John Edwards for President
Monday, September 24, 2007

----
Chapel Hill, North Carolina – Today, Senator John Edwards released the following statement in support of the striking UAW workers:

"I offer my strong support to the striking auto workers and look forward to a fair and speedy settlement that will improve the lives of these hard-working UAW members. And I call on General Motors to do what is right and realize that it has a responsibility to negotiate fairly and move quickly to settle a contract that respects the health, safety and economic security of the auto workers and their families. I also salute the courage of the auto workers to go on strike. Their fight for fair wages, safe workplaces, affordable health care and a secure retirement helps raise standards for workers all across America.

"Sadly, the issues on the bargaining table between General Motors and the United Auto Workers are not unique to Detroit – they represent the larger failures of Washington and public policies that have weakened unions and the middle class. The truth is now, more than ever, it's time for America to go in a new direction and start doing much more to strengthen America's unions and protect the rights of working Americans."

6. So essentially, he said nothing.
"Right to strike." Is there anyone outside of the Republicans and the "1st world" who are not Republicans that doesn't agree with that.

Then Senator Biden remarked, "Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah." And if you can prove he said anything otherwise, I will buy you a diamond tiara.
