Poll question: Ahmadinejad's visit and words; Whom does it affect?
Edited on Mon Sep-24-07 06:00 PM by FrenchieCat
Ahmadinejad said some things today and yesterday (60 minutes interview)......that we, as Democrats, have been saying for some time....whether it is that 9/11 may have been an inside job; that Bush's intelligence on Iran is inaccurate; that invading Iraq was a mistake, etc......

And so, I ask,

Did Ahmadinejad give fuel to the Republicans and their Corporate media by echoing sentiments that we have been hearing from some on the Left for some time now? And if so, does the demonization of Ahmadinejad rejuvenated by his visit hurt the Left, the Right, Iran, or just Ahmadinejad?

1. We can only guess how the Media Heathers will frame this.
But since they traditionally dump on Democrats, heads up.

2. Well, those were my thoughts......

Kinda of like when Fidel Castro says that Hillary and Obama are "the" candidates who should win. I don't think it helped make Hillary or Obama look better to the run of the mill uninformed moderate voter. :(

I know that it is easy to deny that it would hurt us.....but I'm talking the resulting media spin and insinuations here.

Guess we'll have to wait till Limbaugh weighs in and spreads his venom like wildfire via Drudge before we can anticipate that this will be the reaction?

Unfortunately, this is something that is beyond our control, so I wouldn't worry about any responsibility for provocation because they don't require any provocation.

4. He had to answer some tough questions and did a terrible job of it. Cause
he is a propagandaist and a nutter. By claiming there are no homosexuals in Iran alone he hurt his standing in the world.

7. Also he did go to a university and was on 60 Minutes. What is a public
figure who has spewed his baiting ideas publically to expect? Kid gloves? That isn't how it works at 60 Minutes or on university campuses.

6. why was he allowed to speak?
The President ? of Columbia basically referred to him as an evil dictator and he was roundly booed.

The guy is a manipulative goon!

8. I don't know.........
Guess it was the "Free Speech" thing they kept talking about.

He would have been seen as a "hero" so some, if he wouldn't have been allowed to speak, IMO!

9. free speech is fine...
but isn't Columbia private? I'm kind of surprised that they wanted him to speak.

And 60 Minutes probably gave him a solid skewering....

The man has an incredible amount of hubris and self-involvement. And that's just a start.

11. Other:
Ahmadinejad provided a useful, efficient puppet to fuel pro-Iran war stances from either party.
