I hope MoveOn has learned its lesson well. Paul Rieckhoff just pounded them.
I hope we who are on "The Left" have learned also. Paul Rieckhoff really made it clear just now on Rachel Maddow. He added his voice to every single major Democrat in putting the group in its place. He was offensive to me. Rachel had just covered the misinformation handed out by Petraeus, and apparently Paul was not aware. Paul, it is ok to criticize the military. It really is. You really were having a terrible fit about it.

I hope we have learned to watch our party very closely. While they are accusing the activists of not being respectful enough toward the military...even though true....they are helping the Republicans beat the drums to attack Iran.

They have distracted from that by condemning the group, MoveOn, on the Senate Floor.

Lying about the state of war is a terrible betrayal. Attacking truthtellers is betrayal as well

MoveOn hit a nerve. In the face of truth, the right-wing has been forced to change the subject -- away from the administration's betrayal of trust and the escalating tragedy of the occupation to of all things, an ad! To take the focus off maiming and death and the breaking of our military, they talk about etiquette. The truth has reduced them to whining: MoveOn was impolite. Rather than face the truth, they use character assassination against an organization whose three million members stand for the highest patriotic principles of this country, the first of which is a commitment to truth.

They have been about to allow the Kyl-Lieberman amendment up for debate until we hit the phone lines. Now Reid says it needs to be fixed. Will it be? We have to watch them every minute.

There was a potential backroom deal with Reid and Schumer on allowing the Von Spakovsky nomination through. Again on the phones to stop our own party from doing stupid things.

FDL Time to hit the phones again, gang. And hit them hard.

Hans Von Spakovsky — yes, the same one that Jane flagged back in 2005 – is up for a vote on Wednesday in the Senate Rules Committee for an appointment to the FEC (Federal Election Commission). Adam Lambert at ePluribusMedia has a three-part series on Mr. Von Spakovsky and why he is utterly wrong for America. And in this DKos diary, Adam covers a potential backroom deal with Reid and Schumer on allowing the Von Spakovsky nomination through…sense my disgust. Maha covers a McClatchey piece and some other background on Von Spakovsky’s minority voter suppression activities. BradBlog has even more on the voter suppression nastiness. ThinkProgress has a letter from six former DOJ employees imploring the Rules Committee to vote “NO” on this nomination, for all our sakes.

No one took up for the right of the anti-war activists to use words they wished. No one. They would rather we would sit down and hush and let them complete their agendas in peace.

We are not sure what is going on with the trade deal. Rangel pulled some sneaky stuff on that.

Rangel..."bam, seal it and catch hell" ...about the trade deal

He said he would just ram it on through and catch hell from us later. Lovely attitude.

I did not expect to have to watch my own party so closely to keep them slipping things in without our knowing it. They are planning on keeping on "spreading Democracy", in fact this website says that "the left" just doesn't understand. That we are letting Bush failures influence our thinking. From the DLC Ideas Primary...the "policy shop" for the nominee:

Democracy in the Middle East

Thanks to the Bush administration, the Left views any talk of “democracy promotion” with growing suspicion. This is one of the tragic consequences of the Iraq war and the incessant belligerence of an administration that has tainted everything it has touched in the Middle East. In response - and in disillusion - progressives have abandoned one of the core tenets of liberal internationalism. The task ahead of us, then, is a difficult one: reclaiming democracy promotion as our own, in a way that upholds the best of our ideals, and, at the same time, appreciates the very real limits of power and idealism. First, the rationale; beyond the moral component, democracy promotion is the only way to protect the homeland and secure our long-term national interests.

No, it isn't the only way. The Middle East does not belong to us.

And all the Democrats who have lectured MoveOn and let the rest of us know to keep in our place with "proper" words....have done a lot of damage. And Reickhoff was really too much.

I believe they were using the outrage as a cover to slip some more unpleasant things through.

4. The only smart thing for MoveOn to do is keep lobbing bombs and soaking up mass donations.
It is too bad for our country, but this is trench warfare, and it is ugly. You have to pay to play and MoveOn is in a far better financial position to fight then they have ever been in before.

5. Cable went off just as I previewed this...did not even know it posted.
Cable just came back on, some tree fell. They were here fast.

This part has a error too late to edit.

" hope we have learned to watch our party very closely. While they are accusing the activists of not being respectful enough toward the military...even though true....they are helping the Republicans beat the drums to attack Iran."

SHOULD have read:

" hope we have learned to watch our party very closely. While they are accusing the activists of not being respectful enough toward the military...even though NOT true....they are helping the Republicans beat the drums to attack Iran."

I thought Dan Abrams did a very good job of covering the war drums beating for Iran. Our Democrats are scaring him as well, and Joan Walsh of Salon agreed.

8. Last year I had hope they would change things.
But watching Congressional leaders acting so wimpish, I really do worry.

I never watch Abrams, but with the cable out I kept watching after Countdown...he was really upset with all of the drum beating.

I am very angry over Florida and this incessant fear and loathing of Iran is getting to me.
