Propaganda on DU? It's more likely than you think
MoveOn.org Ad highly unpopular with the American people...including a majority of Liberals...

Really? Let's hear those percentages:

Self-identified liberals were evenly divided—45% approve and 39% disapprove

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=132x3547174

I never was all that good at math, but even I can see that the real majority here is the 45% that approved of the ad. This was pointed out to the poster quite a while ago, but curiously, he has neglected to correct the information, or even to respond to the allegations.

And I hope he realizes his error, because I would hate to think that this was all...oh, you know-deliberate. I'd hate to think that someone who spends so much time on this board would feel free to just lie to his fellow DUers with impunity. And if it goes unchallenged, he will point to his lies again and again and again as "proof" of his erroneous assertions. The point of contention itself is a minor matter, but the blatant way it's been put out there is repulsive. Propagandists do our community a grave disservice when they abuse our trust.

I call bullshit.

2. There are operatives who try to sneak in propaganda points
in their posts. It seems to go with the territory. I find our DUers are pretty good at discrediting them and sending them on their way with their tails between their legs.

6. Good of you to say so
I appreciate that, though I really wonder how such an obvious - indeed critical - part of your headline got garbled? If I link to a science article and title it "The sun rises in the West," I could be expected to make sure that the article inside actually reflects that key conclusion.

8. Which should tell you it was a mistake.,..
Had I really intended to mislead I simply would have switched the numbers around...

Nevertheless, it was an unintentional mistake on my part

Spun by diligent and dutiful little worker bees who might as well be paid (if indeed they're not).

The good news is they do their cause more harm than good.

7. Sometimes they do
Personally, I try not to associate candidates with their supporters. I'm not going to let someone else's irritating activities turn me off to a candidate. The candidates deserve better than to have their most rabid supporters serve as a turn-off to the world at large, and they certainly can't be held responsible, except in cases of dirty tricks or sabotage.

9. It's getting harder not to associate Hillary with her supporters here...
Especially when they echo the diversionary or strong-arm tactics of her campaign. I like Hillary as a person ~ but detest her machine!

20. What are these campaign 'strong arm' tactics that you speak of?
Serious question here. I'm refering to 'strong arm' tactics by
her official campaign, not partisan DU member rants.

16. Actually, I think it's called a "plurality"
A majority would be just over half. To pick a nit, a plurality of self-identified liberals approved of the ad. Not a majority. :)

17. I've asked a few people about the ad and we all like it. I'll keep trying to
find someone who doesn't like it though. Maybe if I contact mentally challenged nine-year-olds who can't read. Maybe they won't like it.
