You lose the thread and your words just sputter and your mind just rolls off down the gutter....

And you start thinking that this whole thing is one big effing stew.

You know, the kind of stew that you just get the water boiling and then you add one ingredient at a time.

Then you pretty much get everything simmering and all the various elements start influencing all of the others.

And you give it a taste test and it pretty much sucks.

So you call your Sweetheart into the kitchen and ask her what she thinks.

She tells you that the stew sucks.

So where do you start?

Take out the potatoes?

Pretty inert stuff.

Lift the beef/pork/chicken?

Good luck, because it has gone all stringy and is scattered around in the pot.

What the Heck, start trying to scoop all of those grains of black pepper.

Or maybe it's the water.

Try doing something about that. You can never strain or press all of that water out of the stew.

The only workable strategy is to throw the whole damned batch over the rail.
