5. Edwards/Bayh would be a very handsome ticket indeed:)
Oh well, Bayh did endorse Hillary :(

But if a Senator gets the nom, it should be a gov like Richardson or vilsack, or a lovely lady gov (I forgot her name).

3. I voted for
Hillary

(Obviously she wasn't one of the choices, so I voted for the General.)

4. Surely it depends on who the presidential nominee is?
The VP needs to complement the president; ideally bringing in those sections of the electorate the president it weak with.

If Hillary Clinton wins, the VP should be someone popular with the far left - Gore or Clark, perhaps, or maybe even someone like Kucinich. If Edwards or Obama win, it might well make sense to pick someone with more appeal to moderates.

6. Those are interesting tallies. 3 of the 5 are Westerners.

Strickland is just getting settled into his new job and is enjoying strong favorables. Napolitano would be an exciting choice.

If Sen. Clinton is the nominee, I think Clark or Bayh has the inside track, with Vilsack a dark horse.

If Sen. Dodd were somehow to win, I think Napolitano would be a very strong choice for his veep.

If Edwards or Biden win -- and I believe one of the two will be our next president, I think Richardson and Gov. Sebelius would be terrific veep noms.

Senator Obama might match up well with Tom Harkin of Iowa.

If Gov. Richardson himself wins the nomination, how about Phil Bredesen? A western governor and a border-South governor would bring an interesting demographic to the polls, IMO.

I feel that Kucinich and Gravel have longer roads to the nomination, but would wind up making great veeps for each other. Kucinich-Gravel or Gravel-Kucinich.

If that global warming guy gets into the race, Robert F. Kennedy Jr would be a breath-taking, nearly spell-binding choice for the vice-presidential nomination, and the convention delegates in Denver would go absolutely nuts. If not RFK Jr, then possible Senator Feingold, another of my true favorites in the political world.

12. That post deserves a recommend
Gore-Kennedy. That IS breathtaking.

But I think we're in for Clinton-Clark.

Maybe we can get Edwards/Kucinich on an indy or Green ticket next year. How cool would that be?

9. I'm worried that the Pukes might name Kay Bailey Hutchison as veep,
Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 09:40 PM by Old Crusoe
possibly as a strategy to counter Sen. Clinton (if Sen. Clinton is our nominee), although I think Hutchison, very sad to say, would be a contender for their veep nom no matter what.

We have some impressive women to place on our national ticket as vice presidential nominees. Gov. Sebelious is a winner, IMO. Janet Napolitano is an amazement out there in Arizona.

My first would have been Bella Abzug, not for veep but for the top of the ticket, c. 1976. There was a fighter.

14. KBH wants to quit public service

so she claims. She has "given up a lot of earning potential".

Anyway, I don't think Republicans put a Texan -- be it Kay Bailey or Rick Perry -- on the ticket this go-round, 1) because they need electoral help elsewhere, and 2) the Dubya anchor already weighing them down would be made worse. Even the GOP knows they don't need any more of that than they already have.

I'm thinking Huckabee will be a likely VP nominee, almost irrespective of whether it's Guiliani, Romney, or Thompson at the top. Because he's a Christian, and because he's not a freak.

And I just hope Ron Paul runs as a Libertarian.

10. Clark should be on Gore's undercard.
That would be an unbeatable ticket. Highly unlikely though. I don't want Clark to be under Hillary should she get the nod.
