Latest email from MoveOn...no one else was condemned.
First, I must comment on the worst statement today. It was by David Obey. He really does not like The Left, does he? His statement is scary. He acts McCarthy-like and excuses his behavior because of McCarthy.

Wisconsin Rep. David Obey, a veteran Democrat, recounted how he left the Republican Party during the era of Sen. Joseph McCarthy, R-Wis., and said that lawmakers have an obligation to criticize their allies as well as their enemies when they go too far.
House Condemns MoveOn.org's Petraeus Ad

I think I have reached a saturation point today. Our Democrats are not acting rationally. The greatest harm done in 2003 when so many got excited about their candidates was that we were allowed to think we could make a difference. That was a lie. It was all smoke and mirrors, all set in concrete just how it would be in 08. 2004 was about 2008....and it is all coming together.

I liked thinking my actions mattered. But now I know they don't. That was wrong to make us think we could make a difference, that we could change things. We are going to war with Iran, we will be in Iraq, and then the other countries will become enemies.

Letting us know we really don't matter....it is what the House and Senate censures were about...putting us in our places.

But for a little while we thought we mattered.

They didn't condemn Vice President Cheney when he falsely connected Al Qaeda to Saddam Hussein.1

They didn't condemn Colin Powell when he lied about WMD to the United Nations.2

They didn't condemn President Bush when he started eavesdropping on American citizens without a warrant.3

They didn't condemn President Bush and the Republicans when they attacked Sen. John Kerry's war record.4

They didn't condemn Sen. Saxby Chambliss when he ran ads comparing triple-amputee and war hero Max Cleland to Osama bin Laden.5

They still haven't done enough to slow this dreadful war or protect our troops.6

But a few hours ago, your representative voted in the House to join the Senate in condemning a MoveOn.org newspaper ad.7

Republicans are hoping to use this to destroy us. Some Democrats are so afraid of being attacked that they're joining in a right-wing smear campaign.

Well, they need to know that we're not going to quiet down.

(They give the phone number of the congressman)

When you call, tell them that we're going to keep giving voice to the majority of Americans who want the war to end. We're going to keep the pressure on every scared Democrat and every pro-war Republican. We're going to demand they stand up—and turn them out of office if they don't. And we will never stand down until we have a majority of Congress with the guts to stand up for what's right.

If it's late where you are and the D.C. office is closed, make sure to call tomorrow.

Thanks for all you do.

1. Are you ever right
these votes were a giant screw you to the left. They in effect told us that they really don't need us, like us or want us to do anything that doesn't follow the party line. We should be good little boys and girls and do what we are told, our opinions (right or not) don't matter one bit.

10. Exactly. This Is What Really Ticks Me Off.
We don't have time for their silly games. And I object to paying them to play silly games.

5. More votes for condemning MoveOn than for children's health care.
Amazing when you look at it that way.

From Huffington Post:

House Dems Sell-Out MoveOn, Condemnation of Free Speech Gets More Votes than Children

The United States House of Representatives just voted to condemn Moveon.org for an ad, which ran in last Monday's New York Times. The vote was 341-79.

Yesterday, the House passed legislation that will increase health care coverage to an additional 3.5 million children. That vote was 265-159.

By an embarrassingly significant margin, the House of Representatives favors condemning the Constitutional right of free speech over providing health care to children. This is about as bad as it gets. How can these people sleep at night?

I'm beside myself.
