Edwards was on his game tonight...
Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 10:08 PM by rndmprsn
he pushed back hillary on a number of fronts, calling out differences on iraq combat missions and the iran war/kyl/lieb vote...i think he emerged as the challenger, really just by acting as it, to hillary.

obama looked kind of faded?

kucinich had the best to say in general and the best one liners

Biden came on strong in a few moments

1. I am not an Edwards backer ...

But he did comparatively well ... and I loved when he defended himself passionately after the stupid hedge fund/haircut question. :)

2. This was a good night for John Edwards, he does not waiver, and he stood his ground
with Russert.

He was clear and to the point.

3. I loved that he didn't take that crap from Russert. He was great - and the commentators agree!
VERY surprising.

15. One of the many reasons I prefer Edwards is
Edited on Wed Sep-26-07 10:33 PM by rusty quoin
he has a great presence of mind, like Bill Clinton. That could make a big difference in the end run. To note, I really would vote for anyone of them. Kucinich would be best, but I was a fan of both Tonga's and Mondale in my younger years. I listened to the message. Maybe times have changes and appearance doesn't matter, but I don't think so. I want a person for the people as president.

10. The top three in the debate tonight, IMO....

Biden
Edwards
Kucinich

Biden made a lot of headway talking about the Biden Amendment passed today. The conventional wisdom, before that vote, was that it would not muster 60 votes. It got 75. I liked Biden's "warning of the Pharisees," answer, too. He was talking, IMO, about fundamentalist RW religionists.

Edwards was strong in defending the bullshit about the hedgefunds and haircuts, and came off as genuinely caring about the poor. "Inasmuch as you've done unto the least of these, you've done it unto me." He stayed right with his emphasis on poverty.

Kucinich, as always, spoke from his heart, and put Russert in his place about "bankrupting Cleveland." Kucinich tells what he believes is the unvarnished truth. And, his prayer for peace rings true.

Hillary, though, had a very good line after Russert tried to sandbag her with Bill's quote on torture, by not revealing who said it beforehand (gotcha politics...Russert is an ass)...when she said, "Bill's not standing here!" That's the best answer she could have given. She had a strong performance, too....as did Dodd, and Obama.

But, IMO, the top three were, as far as performance in the debate...and, that doesn't mean I'm voting this way...I'm still undecided:

1. Biden
2. Edwards
3. Kucinich

16. AND THAT SIMPLY SUCKS!! I Know The Reason... Hillary Has
the BACKERS, but perhaps after tonight Edwards will move up! He really really should, Hillary was very very lame tonight. But her laugh and shrill tone turned me off a long time ago.

Bet Big Dawg Will be on scene REAL SOON!!

21. Are you kidding. I'm not even an Edwards supported but if he wins
Iowa (and yes it is still an if) then he will most probably come in at least 2nd place. If he doesn't win Iowa there is a good chance he could finish a lot lower then third. Four months is four years in politics.

20. Obama is reported to have the flu and he certainly appeared like death warmed over.
His content was fine, his delivery off tonight.
