Talkingpointsmemo's Josh Marshall: "Syrian Nukes?"
Syrian Nukes?

09.26.07 -- 11:20PM
By Josh Marshall

I just saw the replay of Hillary's response to the Iran-Israel nuclear strike question. And what struck me is that she seemed to confirm the theory that the Israeli strike in Syria was on a nuclear facility the Syrians had built with help from the North Koreans. I don't think I've seen any government official or member of Congress confirm that and I still find it highly suspicious. What'd she hear?

Good question, Josh. One the M$M ought to be asking, as well.

1. What? You mean a US Senator perhaps knew something a blogger didn't?

5. uh... I know exactly who he is. In fact, I've met him a number of times. Fact remains, though.....
... it shouldn't surprise you a US Senator knew something a blogger didn't.

7. Bigger issue - if she is confirming something that the news media should be all over.
But for the media to be laying down on the job of reporting important stuff, is nothing new.

Thing is, if she has classified information, she may have said something she shouldn't have. If the information isn't classified, why isn't it being made more widely known? Or was she just speculating?

Just posing questions...I hardly have enough info to come to a conclusion...but it's interesting.

13. The point is that clinton seemed to tacitly confirm something
that hadn't been confirmed yet. The point is not about Clinton, per se, but about confirmation of the syrian nuke story.
it's not an "anti-Clinton" piece.
relax.

26. Especially when her Hubby is a former President who get's the briefings
just like all the other former Presidents do. I just wonder why she shouldn't be held accountable for revealing National Secrets if she's repeating what Bill told her from Bush or whomever in the WH is responsible for sending those briefings to the former POTUS.

34. It means that Hillary is fine with the entire plan to go into Iran and Syria and
of course understands that AQ Khan is available to take the blame.

Bill's book is for airplane reading not for determining terrorist or nuclear threats.

28. Bill's book on his presidency shouldn't have included Iran and Syria and AQ Khan's
nuclear proliferation via BCCI?

Do tell.

BTW - it is war with Iran AND Syria being ginned up now.

Bill's book is about US GOVT and what he focused on before, during and after his terms of office.

You want to PRETEND that BCCI - nuclear proliferation , drugrunning , armsdealing and terror funding was too heavy for that book which is only supposed to be airplane reading - go ahead - you sound like a really active CITIZEN concerned about good governance and democracy.

When Israel stops breaking international law regarding nuclear weapons, the we can reconfigure the analysis.

Here's a something I posted last night:

http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_mesg&forum=389&topic_id=1918077&mesg_id=1918292

And the U.S. is trying to turn this into a simple black and white issue.

I don't buy it.

Maybe it's high time DU pays attention to the 'loony' BCCI posters here - you, too, Josh.

16. I get it - when BushInc wants to point a finger at a 'culprit' who supplied the nukes
it will be Khan - so they needed him freed.

The nukes in the bomber report comes to mind - so do the odd deaths of those charged with transporting those nukes.
