Petty state Senate leader in Florida: Dean is "welcome in certain, small enclaves of the state”
How irritating, how petty, how childish. How annoying, and how very divisive.

This just in: Geller to miss Dean fundraiser

Senate Democratic Leader Steve Geller, who on Wednesday labeled Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina “terrorist, rogue states” for coercing Democratic presidential candidates not to campaign in Florida in advance of its Jan. 29 primary, on Thursday announced he will not be attending a Tallahassee fundraiser held by the head terrorist himself, Democratic chairman Howard Dean.

“He’s welcome in certain, small enclaves of the state,” Geller told the Q. “If you don’t have something nice to say about someone, you shouldn’t say anything at all. Therefore I will not go.”

Dean is scheduled to attend an Oct. 9 fundraiser at the law office of Allan Katz, a Florida Democratic National Committee member who has unsuccessfully tried to persuade the state party to abandon the Jan. 29 primary and schedule a convention or caucuses after Feb. 5.

As long as they keep acting like fools, I intend to point it out.

That would be this Steve Geller who laughed his own amendment off the floor, said the Feb. 5th amendment was only meant to prove to the DNC they tried....but dont vote for it...ha ha.

Geller: "...So the Democratic leader and the Democratic leader pro tem are jointly making this motion, which we will duly show them later, that we tried not to have the election on, um, before (Feb. 5).
President: "And so Sen. Geller are you urging a negative vote or would you like us to pass this vote?"
Geller: "Oh no sir. We really, really want this. Don't we senator? (sarcasm and audible laughter in chamber).

More here:
Florida's Geller joked about his amendment: "sarcasm and audible laughter in chamber"

Howard Dean is coming to Tallahassee for a fundraiser October 9, and they are acting all pissy about it. How dare the chairman who bailed the Florida party out to the tune of $200,000 and makes sure they get $350,000 yearly...how dare he come here.

But...that is not enough of the rudeness and pettiness.

Hillsborough DEC chair says Dean not welcome in Florida. Laughs at him.

Meanwhile, the primary controversy isn't keeping Howard Dean away. He's scheduled to be in Tallahassee Oct. 9 for a $100-per-person fundraiser. (Suggested amount..not required)

Hillsborough Democratic chairman Mike Suarez burst out laughing at that news Tuesday.

"I'm not too sure that he's the best person to be doing fundraising in Florida at the moment," Suarez said of Dean.

This is just embarrassing. But there is more. It is the legislative and congressional leaders who are leading the battle.

Wasserman-Schultz helps Nelson lead the battle against the DNC.

Dennis Cook / AP Wasserman Schultz: Make Sure Our Votes Are Counted

She told a complete lie about the DNC. Dean has been talking to the state since the first of the year.

They were absolutely uninterested in sitting down and figuring that out with us. So based on everything I’ve said, it became clear that we should just stick to the Jan. 29 date so we make sure Florida voters are counted."

I don't know if Karen Thurman, the state chairwoman, is strong enough to stop them from hurting all of us.

Petty and vindictive, and hurting us all.

2. I am upset over some emails I got this week.
Asking for donations to some local candidates. I said what is their position on the way Florida has blamed the DNC for what they did. And what is your position on the censures of the MoveOn ad by congress.

It was apparently not a good answer to some. There is to be no speaking out here against the state party.

I guess they just don't know me. I see injustice being played out here, and I will post about their petty attitudes.

One person today said oh, please don't blame Karen, it was the legislature and congress people doing it. But I have her emails also.

I also have the emails from DEC chairs saying to withhold funds from the DNC. Further I have mail sent by Florida DNC members who were NOT included in the final decision.

This is about a state putting itself above all others and blaming and insulting the national party and its chairman.

3. Geller may sue IA, NH, NV and SC. He called them terrorist rogue states.
http://www.palmbeachpost.com/politics/content/local_news/epaper/2007/09/27/s1b_demprimary_0927.html

"Thursday, September 27, 2007

WEST PALM BEACH — Florida Senate Democratic Leader Steve Geller called Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina "terrorist rogue states" and said he's contemplating a lawsuit against them for pressuring Democratic presidential candidates to boycott Florida.

Geller, of Cooper City, made the remarks to a Democratic Professionals Council luncheon audience of about 50 on Wednesday. He was the group's replacement speaker after the originally scheduled headliner, New Mexico Gov. and presidential hopeful Bill Richardson, canceled because of the pledge not to campaign in Florida."

UH, Steve, that is in the DNC rules and bylaws now. It was passed with Florida's vote.

http://www.democrats.org/a/2006/08/highlights_of_t.php

"Presidential Candidate Sanctions on the Window
There is a new rule that imposes new sanctions on presidential candidates.
If a state, any state, violates the rule on timing/the window, presidential
candidates will face sanctions if they campaign in that state. Examples of
campaigning include: making personal appearances in the state, hiring
campaign workers, and buying advertising and so on.

Currently, the only punishment for states that violate the window was on
State Parties. This new enforcement provision recognizes that presidential
candidates must also bear a responsibility in enforcing the window or face
sanctions."

Everyone in Florida wants to sue someone. Maybe I will sue all of them for making me angry.

Don't you? Maybe Geller would welcome you on his lawsuit.

6. I just drove back from South Carolina about an hour ago.
Just reading the editorials in the papers there over the last week. It seems Howard and the DNC are pretty popular there.

We've really got a pathetic excuse for a party down here.

8. "terrorist rogue states" for asking Dem candidates to follow DNC rules?
What's next, the Des Moines-Manchester-Las Vegas-Columbia axis of evil?

Seriously, is that guy on meth or something?

The FDP should all have to stand in a corner or something. They're a huge embarrassment.

and the FL politicians are once again amusing the country with their good old boy politics. I've only been here a few years, but I've never seen a state more dedicated to screwing the Dem voter than this one.

14. It seems to me that any Floridian who wants to donate, should donate to CLint CUrtis
directly. The party is giving him 0.00. He is one of the nation's best, trying to protect our elections and fight fraud. He came within an arms length of winning against republican badman Feeney last election, and all that with only volunteer work. He has in this coffers right now 6,000, but he goes door to door on the ground. A true democrat! If anyone is able, please go to clintcurtis.com, read about him and donate.

15. The party undermined good Democrats here last time.
In 2, maybe 3, districts that I know of. They will probably do the same to Curtis. It will be done swiftly like it was done to Schneider and Lutrin, they will just never mention him.

The DCCC and the state party will make the decision. Has he applied for help from them this time?
