I don't put much credit in the claim that Hillary Clinton knows how
to beat Republicans; not considering who she's been up against in New York.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Spencer_(politician)

By the way, durin gthe Republicxna primary race, SPencer's opponent..".Kathleen Troia McFarland, a former official in the Reagan-era Pentagon, repeatedly hammered John Spencer, a former mayor of Yonkers, for having an extramarital affair with a city employee while he was mayor, having relatives on the city payroll, and raising property taxes."

1. Hit edit. Most Clinton supporters will only belittle you on your post...
instead of talk about your specific comment. Just trying to avoid you getting the typical brow beating from the assassins and turning your post into a flame war.

10. And how does running against Alan Keyes prepare one for a national race?

3. She ran against Lazio because Rudy saw the poll numbers and shit his pants.
Spencer was a throwaway.

11. That was an excuse - he was in the middle of a very nasty divorce
where he told the media he was getting a divorce before he told his wife.

4. The argument isn't about Hilary so much as her camp

She's got some smart, experienced players in there (not even including her husband). Not as in Bush's "I'll appoint smart people to do my job" intelligent, but "I'll hirethese people to win my campaign" intelligent.

I think that objectively speaking, any political differences aside, she's pretty darn sharp by anyone's standards. This is not a stupid woman, and not a person to be "misunderestimated."

I'm just sayin' is all. While I think she'd be better than any of the Republicans, there are still plenty of nominees I support more. Can she actually win? I'll cross that bridge when I come to it. At least she's more electable than McGovern (RIP) was.

5. Great politician she is. However, I definitely question
her ability to lead this country towards the healing we so desperately need as a nation.

That's also not a tough standard to meet.

14. "Oops" doesn't cover that gaffe.
And I felt bad, until I let "McGovern is alive... That's also not a tough standard to beat" sink in.

Razor sharp, that wit of yours.

8. Most NY state incumbents have great favorable ratings
Schumer got re-elected with I think 77% of the vote, Moynihan routinely got in the high 60s and would have gotten more if he had bothered to campaign (he did in one campaign), Pataki (R) was re-elected with high numbers. Officeholders seem to get a big boost in NY for some reason.
