So where were Giuliani, Thompson, McCain and Romney last night?
They had such big "scheduling conflicts" that they couldn't attend a debate on minority issues at Morgan State University. Anybody know where they were or what they were doing that was so important it couldn't be rescheduled?

1. I heard they said they thought the crowd would not welcome them
The GOP keeps shooting itself in the foot. Over and Over and Over.

3. Did they?
I thought they'd only said they had "scheduling conflicts."

Why on earth wouldn't the crowd welcome them? :sarcasm:

11. I didn't see the debate, but apparently Tavis Smiley had a few
words about their absence.

Tavis Smiley, the television host who moderated both PBS forums, said at the outset: “Some of the campaigns who declined our invitations to join us tonight have suggested publicly that this audience would be hostile and unreceptive. Since we are live on PBS right now, I can’t tell you what I really think of these kinds of comments.”

12. Good for Tavis. Invitations were extended and it appears that certain GOP
candidates decided to turn their backs.

Yes -- good for Tavis Smiley.

2. They totally blew it. No one in that audience or anyone watching
will probably vote for any of those 'busy' candidates now. IMO it was bold of them to discount such a large part of our country, and terminally stupid.

4. They probably figured nobody in that audience would vote for them anyway.
So, they just don't care.

That or they all had to wash their hair.

7. Their enormous hubris got in the way? It just looks really bad regardless of
how people eventually vote. I think it was a mistake, but I won't complain.

9. McCain was at his anger management group. Giuliani and his current wife
roamed the streets of Brooklyn torturing dogs. (Bill Frist couldn't join them but participated via videotape.)

Romney was engaged in carnal relations with his Ronald Reagan blow-up doll.

And Thompson appeared to know but not really care where he was.

This is the GOP 2008.

13. LOL
Although, I swear I would have thought it would be Romney torturing the dogs...
I figured Giulliani was off exploiting 9/11 as usual.
