Iraq Will Have to Wait

The highest priority for the antiwar movement in America today must be the prevention of a war with Iran. The strategic objectives should include getting Congress to repeal the war-powers authorities currently on the books, thereby forcing the president to seek new congressional approval for any new war. Likewise, a concerted effort must be undertaken to counter the disinformation being spread by the Bush administration and others about the nature of the Iranian threat. Every action undertaken by the antiwar movement must be connected to one or both of these strategic objectives.

1. You got that right!

I sent an email to both of our (Republican) Senators yesterday asking them to try to use their influence to stop this maneuvering by the Bush Administration to attack Iran. From the scenarios I have seen presented regarding the likely outcome of a U.S. attack on Iran, this was be an unmitigated disaster for our country. I hope you get some support on this as in other people contacting their legislators on this.

2. My real hope is that the military will bulk at any such attack....

We very well may see this happen, and then what happens?

3. Military mutiny?

There is chatter on some of the blogs that this is exactly what happened when it was revealed that the B52 with nuclear-armed missiles landed at Barksdale AFB recently. Supposedly someone from the military or another agency leaked this info in order to stop an attack on Iran. However, most say the source of this story is not credible. One thing is for sure, that was a suspicious event. Some say it was connected with the strange Israeli incursion into and bombing of Syrian targets last week (?) which went without comment by all the Arabs, everyone. There is definitely something in the works here and lots of people other than the American taxpayers are in on it.

It is clear that the bu$h regime has it's eyes set on Iran. We must stop them before it is too late.
