23. I'll 3rd that. Most qualified for POTUS & with the best chance of winning the general election |
|
The guy is smart, tough, a straight shooter, and well-grounded. We'd finally have someone that comes across as more down to earth than the Repubs have. He comes across as more of a traditional American than Guiliani, Mitt, The Actor, and Newt. Pass on Sen. Biden and we're passing on a golden opportunity.

I am in the same situation BTW.

3. I am and always will be a supporter of the General. But in view |
|
of the fact that he's not running, I can only support the only person in the pack that is running as a democrat and that has a chance. (Kucinich is a true dem, but he's the proverbial snowball in Hell candidate.)
John Edwards is the only choice there is. He's running on issues that concern the people of this country, he's an advocate for the working men and women (pro union), and he has some real great solutions to our problems (go to his website, look as his position on the main issues facing us today).
The rest are republicans in democratic clothing.

6. John Edwards is easily the best choice, imho. |
|
He has staked out the most progressive positions of the top tier. He is the most pro-labor of the top tier (and maybe the entire field - including Kucinich). He is the most able of the entire field to convince Congress to support his progressive reforms.

I'm liking Dodd, then Biden .
They're both smart, poised , and not afraid to be the adults in the room.
Biden's given some very good stump speeches and speeches in the senate well on poverty and getting out of Iraq. I'm impressed. And his hair transplant isn't nearly so distracting as it was ten years ago.
To me, Edwards just doesn't have the gravitas I want in a president right now. I will say that HRC has that too.
I could be enthusiastic about Obama. I think his lack of a track record is actually a Good Thing. He might give us a really good start on cleaning up the mess we've made in the Middle East.
But, I'd still prefer Dodd or Biden at this point.
We've got a good crop to choose from. Good luck deciding!

I find it very compelling that the last sitting Senator to win the White House was JFK. He's got the broad background - legislative, diplomatic and executive - that's needed for Pres right now. He's dealt successfully with North Korea, for example, and that gives him the credibility with other nations with whom we have issues - that he will sit down with them and deal, not just dictate. And he has the right position on the war - bring 'em home now, all of them.

I believe he could bring people together like no other candidate. He has that "cowboy thing", of course with him it's real not a costume. He could get the votes from the center.

but he's just not shown the poise and gravitas in the debates that I expected.

21. Richardson is pandering to the left now and touting his experience |
|
but Biden has a pragmatic plan out of Iraq and a better track record. I kinda like Richardsonin general but his debate performances make me want to throw up and this "I'm gonna get out faster and bring in Muslim forces" thing makes me want to throw up a second time.

|
Yeah, he's a crap debater; I'll be the first to admit that. My first reaction to his latest performance on DU was "At least he didn't shit himself this time." But why are you complaining that he's focusing on his credentials?

12. Dinger, I suggest you look at all the candidates. But please consider Senator Edwards.... |
|
He's got a bold and realistic universal healthcare plan that makes sense, and will fix the dysfunctional healthcare system. He's got the right approach in ending the war in Iraq, and putting our energy in making America the moral leader in the world again. He's got the right message on creating economic fairness in this country, and closing the gap of opportunity for average Americans. He's got the right message on education, and the importance of making sure we provide college for everybody.

actually, it's more process of elimination.
Biden has ACTUAL experience. And I do think he'd go for the throat.

24. Biden's got that thing going for him that is hard to put your finger on |
|
Bill Clinton has it, but in a different way. Biden had always been one of my favorite Democrats, where I alway enjoy listening to him speak on news programs, but really didn't consider him beyond that. He came here to Jackson, Mississippi about 9 months ago. He rode around town in the back of a cab with a reporter for a local underground paper. When I read the article, what impressed me most was how human he was. Just a nice, intelligent, down to earth guy, but he didn't pander or schmooze. He's just genuine. He could win this election for the Democrats and make a damn good president for our entire country. He has a better shot at uniting our country than any other candidate, bar none.

26. It's kind of funny to see Biden getting DU support recently. |
|
I've liked Biden for a long time, and I can remember talking about how I thought he was pretty level-headed foreign-policy-wise back in '03 or '04 (different name) and with all my replies being that he was just a neocon shill.

27. I've been watching Biden since 04 |
|
I was always impressed with his straight-forward manner accompanied by his diverse knowledge, especially on foreign affairs. I remember thinking, "he would make a good candidate", but I never thought he would have a chance. Lately as I watch the other candidates and compare them to Biden, I'm changing my mind. I think he really does have a good chance and that he would actually be able to get things done. There is so much work to do both foreign and domestic, and I am not prepared to take a chance of anyone who does not have proven experience just because they appear to be competent.
There are a lot of undecideds out there now and I suggest that they really look at the problems the next president will face and compare those problems issue by issue to each candidate. Ignore the MSM and the polls. Opinions and preferences mean very little.

19. The only candidate who get us out of this stupid war: Dennis Kucinich |
|
Dodd might do it too. The big 3 will keep us there for at least another 5 years and that includes the one Clark endorsed. That endorsement made me take my name off all his mailing lists. He is not going to support ending this war so I'm done with him.
Kucinich will end it the quickest and bring our troops home.
