Hillary should be where she is in the polls because she is at the top of the
list in name recognition.

She has had 15 years of media exposure.

15 years of free media
15 years of being known every where in the world, by her first name
15 years of being the topic of discussion at every GOP ward meeting
15 years of crafting her message, and being in the right place at the right time

Yet, Edwards and Obama have been able to keep it close, and in some polls, within striking distance.

It is my opinion that she has peeked and she may yet get toppled.

How she has gone up in the polls as her opponents have increased their name recognition...

If what you say is true her lead should be shrinking

14. That is your conclusion not mine. My point is that 15 years is a mighty long time
for the world to be on a first name basis with the woman.

Just because people know her, who she is, and what her name is DOES NOT MEAN THEY WILL VOTE FOR HER.

Her name recognition is the biggest and best thing she has going for her.

The next debate will be important, because viewers will be watching to see if she is able to counter punch.

But Edwards is smart, is pacing himself, and displayed strength without being condescending. Second place or even third place in this horse race positions him to win by a nose.

16. She also has very high negatives...people hate her viscerally...
not because they have any good reason to do so. Yet, they still hate her. My business partner is a perfect example of that. Doesn't know why, but she hates Hillary.

19. I cringe at the word "hate". I dearly wanted to support her, but dislike her
approach and thinking so much, that I shy away from supporting her.

It is NOT enough that she is a woman, and smart.....it goes deeper than that, and I can not 'splain myself.

Additionally, she is way too hawkish in my view, and I would say that although she is experienced, she does not illuminate in the way a natural leader does.

31. I have it on good authority that she is hated by some because
she forgave Bill. It would have been better if he had had regular sex with Monica; because, as you know, pugs don't do oral sex. Do you really want to side with people who have never had great sex? I was told this by my very upright and uptight repuglican sister, who I still love very much. She had not one legitimate reason for hating Hillary. Fortunately, she would have never voted for a democrat anyway; so, her vote is not a loss to the us.

In spite of 15 years of Republican hatred and attacks, she's still #1 in the polls. A mere mortal would have crumbled under that focus.

The more they laud HRC, the more willing I am to shag my butt to the polls and VOTE. :hi:

I would love to see some of those disgustingly self-satiated democratic strategists' faces when *their candidate* doesn't win as THEY ORDERED US LITTLE PEOPLE TO DO.

That would be sweet! :-)

It has not. Instead she has a larger lead now then when she was dominating Edwards and Obama in name recognition.

26. I do not hate Hillery, I do not favor her. And any media, negative or otherwise,
advances name recognition far and beyond any other method in existence.

Ask any person in the world who Hillary Clinton is, and I would guess in those countries that have mass media, she is known.

By that measure, she should be ahead in the polls.

28. Ahhh. I get it. Good point. If I'm asked which laundry detergent I prefer, Tide or
DewDrop, I'm going to say Tide because I've heard of it. So my response goes into the "prefers Tide" column. Excellent point!

If I'm not following the candidates but have heard the hoopla surrounding Clinton, Edwards and Obama, I may say "Clinton" because I've heard/read that she's a lock.

Thank you for clarifying it for me.

36. Oh for Christ's Sake, FlaxieB
You make it sound like Hillary pounced on Bill and forced him to marry her once he became President. They've been married for 30 years and thru the political wars together since Arkansas in the late 70's. Just like Elizabeth Edwards is an asset for John, Hillary was an asset for Bill. She didn't MARRY into a postion of privilege.....they built it together.

And just to set the record straight, Senator Clinton is not my first choice. That would be Edwards since Clark is out and Gore doesn't appear to be running.

All this "America really does love Hillary" crap will be seen for the myth it is.

We will see a lot of "centrists" blaming the left instead of themselves once the Republican wins in 2008 if she does get the nom.

30. Get real! John Edwards has just as much name recognition as
Hillary. He has been a senator and a vice presidential candidate. Additionally, an appearance on Oprah Winfrey and a gala fundraiser has vaulted Obama's name recognition as high as Hillary's. She just happens to be more popular than either. Not her fault

Hillaryland thought they'd be at 55% right now and it isn't happening. She's down around 38%, which shows her weaknessess. She could get toppled of course.
