The flurry of polls showing Kerry beating bush served a purpose - Kerry was labeled the "electable" candidate. That label served its purpose - helping to collapse the Dean campaign. That goal now achieved, the "electable" candidate suddenly appears not as electable.
Its like watching a puppet show.

5. I wouldn't put much faith in this poll |
|
From the looks of that website, and the poll results on it, it looks like a conservative site. I'm not sure, I've never heard of it before. The important thing is for the Democratic party to unify and go after the bush cartel.

27. PORTRAITOFAMERICA.COM--Rasmussens 2000 election poll |
|
Don't hold your breath on the reliability of a Rasmussen poll, he had Bush beating Gore with 390 electoral votes and by 12 points the day of the 2000 election. He has an unreliable method of telephone polling. He apologized after the 2000 election for being so wrong, soon after his portraitofamerica.com site was shut down.

8. The Big News in This Poll |
|
is that Kerry has lost three points to Bush. If that trend continues, voters may begin to judge the electability issue differently by Super Tuesday, especially if Edwards shows signs of being more competitive.
Kerry has his work cut out for him.

12. Yes, Rasmussen is a Puke Pollster and (on edit) it is automated polling. |
|
Edited on Wed Feb-18-04 01:54 PM by yellowcanine
if I remember correctly from 2000, he uses automated telephone polls - which are not reliable.
On edit: Bingo - my memory served me correctly...from Rasmussen Reports.com:
"This unprecedented data collection and real-time reporting capability is made possible by an advanced automated polling technology."
LOL - anybody can answer these polls - kids, space aliens, whatever. Not to mention the self selection bias as to who is going to respond to automated polling.

I wasn't trying to do anything but pass along info and I made sure to include the source in the subject per the rules. I love this place and don't want to get on anyone's bad side, but I've always thought it was good to know what the other side was peddling - even if it's garbage. Again, I apologize if this is something that shouldn't be done but I thought by including the source I was complying with the rules.

Rule #7
7. You may not post any material from extreme right-wing sources, specifically WorldNetDaily.com, Newsmax.com, FreeRepublic.com, and their ilk. Material from more "mainstream" conservative writers or sources, such as The Washington Times and Fox News, are permitted as long as the post includes a clear warning about the source. (For example: "WARNING: Please note that this article is written by George Will.")

even if the info is pertinent. I guess I should have put a warning in there with the name of the source and I'm sorry. Won't happen again. My only reason for posting was to pass along info.

These things will shoot up and down several times over before the nominee is chosen, let alone the General Election is held. The only time they should concern us is on the first Tuesday in November.

just because it doesn't go the way I want, but portrait of america is pretty skewed (always put Bush ahead of Gore by double digits in 2000). If this poll says the Bush/Kerry race is so close, Bush must really be in trouble.
