I will then support whoever he supports unless it is Hillary.
I do not think I can vote for someone who announces a position and then when it receives a lot of negative noise, comes out with " oh, no, we were just floating it, it was never a serious idea." They called Bill "Slick Willy", well imo she is "Slicker Hillary". I'm sorry, call it bashing if you must, but it is how I feel.

thing a few days ago. You're absolutely right. Think of all the time and money we could save. Hell, narrow it down further and just have one small Iowa focus group do it. Come to think of, maybe even that's excessive. Just have Tim Russert, Tweety and a couple of the other boys get together for drinks in one of em's living room and then decide who it'll be, and they can announce it to us the next day.

That would really suck because the only people that would come to DU would be freepers and Hillary supporters, problem being it’s hard to tell the difference.

NO ONE HAS CAST A SINGLE VOTE YET!!!!!!!!!!

To tell people to unite behind Hillary before the caucus and primaries have happened is asinine.

You don't ask people to unite behind someone during the primaries. You ask that after someone has ACTUALLY won the nomination!!

45. I think we should all get behind Gordon Lightfoot.
Abandon your campaign favorites this instant and let's all band together with Gordon Lightfoot.

Here's why you should like Gordon Lightfoot better than your candidate:

Lightfoot has likely recorded more albums than your candidate.

Lightfoot isn't tarred by the Washington insider component; in fact he's not even a citizen of the U.S.!

Lightfoot's health is in peril and he almost died a short while back, yet rebounded and lives on.

He knows how to celestially navigate, and it's very likely your candidate doesn't.

So there it is. Overwhelmingly persuasive reasons to dump your preferred choice for the 08 nomination and throw your time and talents behind Gordon Lightfoot.

This is my final post in this matter.

When people see you do that, they are more apt to do the same themselves and at some point the scales begin to tip in Joe's favor. Campaign for the candidate who is best qualified to make the most of a very, very difficult situation, for our country's sake. It's not too late.

49. If she wasn't such a bad candidate in a general election, I would think about it.
Hillary will unite the Repukes along with many Independents, and her unlikability is going to do her in. She foolishly voted to authorize the war, and voted against every effort to slow it down and possibly avoid making the biggest blunder ever in foreign policy. She just had to rush to war. She showed no vision whatsover. She refuses to admit her awful mistake, and most importantly here, HAS TRAPPED HERSELF in a box in which she cannot extricate herself. She cannot make a real distinction with the Repuke nominee on foreign policy, and that is essential.

Add to that, the fact that many Democrats (and others) believe that she would CONTINUE this war through a FIRST TERM in office! Finally, Repukes and many Indeps still loathe her, even when she votes their way. They accuse her of pandering, or "not being sincere". It's unfair to her, to be sure, but that's the reality. She just can't win, even when she tries to be all things to all people.

Actually, I'm not that crazy about Hillary. We are still in the primaries and we still have free choice so I'm not getting behind Hillary in the primary. That said, I can't imagine anyone who would not vote for Hillary against a Republican. (Unless you're a Republican.) Let's see....two people are running and one of these two people is going to win. One is totally against every single thing you stand for and wants to wipe your beliefs off the face of the Earth. The other you disagree with on several issues but are at least in the same ballpark with most others. But hey, let's just not vote because neither one is pure or perfect. That will turn out great, won't it? :eyes:

64. We have primaries precisely to fight among ourselves.
That is what they are all about. We get to fight and argue, and debate, and hash out which of the Democratic candidates the largest number of us wants to send to the general election. I have never bought the argument that tough primaries are a bad thing. They are a good and necessary thing to make sure as many voices as possible are heard. Whoever the nominee ends up being, they need to take into account ideas from many corners of the party. I will support Obama during the primaries, and we will see who our eventual nominee is. Then, I will support that person, because all of the Republicans who might win their primary are total disasters. But now, we Democrats get to fight through our primaries.

Same ol' thread, over and over.

NO. We are not going to "unite behind Hillary." There are these things called "primaries" coming up next year. Look it up in the dictionary. That's where we decide whom to "unite" behind. And a whole lot of us are not interested in that candidate being Hillary right now.

76. Okay, here's the plan:
We'll meet up in an abandoned factory; lots of room that no one needs anymore.

You make the kool-aid, and Lieberman will bring the special brownies. We'll greet each other, shake hands, eat some brownies, and drink some kool-aid. The rest of the candidates will all give speeches of concession. We'll eat more brownies and drink more kool-aid.

Then we'll blindfold HRC, gather around her in a circle, hold hands, sway, and sing "Kumbaya." When we're sufficiently pumped up, we can do a round of "My Hero, Mrs. President."

After that, we'll place the official presidential tail/pen in her hand, spin her around several times, and see if she can find the donkey to pin it on.

When she can't, we'll loyally proclaim whatever she stuck it on to be the "New Democrat" ic mascot, and surreptitiously toss the old donkey into the rubbish bin.

I hope she doesn't pin it on the sheep, but whatever happens, we'll be united when the new era dawns.

is extremely palatable at our house.

Told not to listen to popular music, I snuck my transistor radio to bed and listened to top 40 music, including "The Boxer."

One of Simon's great compositions.

That song blew me away.

For that matter, is STILL blows me away.

100. The differences are far from petty, and while it may be possible for you to ignore
her history, her actions, and her blatant pandering to her corporate masters, many of us still have principles and a knowledge of history.

Her liabilities are not just in her policies, but there is the undeniable fact that many GOP voters that are currently demoralized and disheartened, would crawl out of their death beds, across hot tar and burning coals, just to vote against her. She has no coattails for other candidates to run on and that will hurt the Party badly.

She might well get into the White House, but she will go alone and have to face a shitstorm of huge problems, a slumping (possibly collapsing) economy, a national debt of $500,000 per household, corporate abandonment, and international hostility like none we have faced before. Add to that two, or possibly three wars, none of which can be won, that Americans have no will to fight, and you want to add a Republik controlled Senate and possibly the House too?

will you still want us to leave the party? That would prove YOU the disruptors, n'est-ce-pas?

let me give you a dose of reality, oh piquant one:

My preference is that she not with the nomination, but even if she does, she will NOT win the general, because she's the republican's PREFERRED opponent.
That means they KNOW they can either beat her or coopt her.

and if that happens, all this petty squabbling wont matter one bit.

and Fox news is going to treat her like royalty, or have you already forgotten her partnership with Murdoch?
