Gingrich says no to White House bid
By LIBBY QUAID, Associated Press Writer

WASHINGTON - Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich will not run for president in 2008 after determining he could not legally explore a bid and remain as head of his tax-exempt political organization, a spokesman said Saturday.

"Newt is not running," spokesman Rick Tyler said. "It is legally impermissible for him to continue on as chairman of American Solutions (for Winning the Future) and to explore a campaign for president."

Gingrich decided "to continue on raising the challenges America faces and finding solutions to those challenges" as the group's chairman, Tyler said, "rather than pursuing the presidency."

Over the past few months, Gingrich had stoked speculation he might enter the crowded GOP field, despite the seemingly insurmountable challenge of entering the race several months after the other Republicans have been running

4. Well-put!
That's exactly the thought that went through my mind; but, he's too busy being at the helm of one of those "think tanks" that are funded by secretive Rethuglican zillionaires.

Go back to being a tool, Newtie.

2. Nuts. Newtie just couldn't get the 30 million he asked for. No one is
interested in the old phoney anymore. His contract with America has been declared null and void.

8. It's just a comedy of errors (the Rethuglican race) ...

I'm worried they'll send in Jebbie to rescue the whole thing.

Then, I will go out into the streets and start screaming ... 'cause Mo Def will have been right, as I always have believed ... we are all doomed to watch the train coming at us ... with the Clintons and Bushes passing the Presidency back and forth like a doobie.

16. Thinking of his quote makes me smile.
Sorry, I guess I put "Mo" when it should have been "Mos." I really loved the "passing the presidency" remark. I just pulled up his entry on Wiki, and they have a section about that Bill Maher episode. It seems to me as if Wiki is mis-portraying the episode, for I, a 48-year-old white mom saw a kid (Mos) who seemed to be very well-informed and analytical (oh, yeah, I'm a law school graduate, and know a bit about analytical). It seemed to be as if the Wiki piece does not appreciate how smart Mos Def is; oh, well, I do!

He had his facts about the Louisiana Purchase correct!

17. Oh wow -- I didn't even notice the Mo sans the 's' -hope you didn't think
I was pointing out your GRIEVOUS error! :7

I'm a 54 year-old white woman and I viewed Mos in exactly the same way as you. I'd just love to hang out with him -- I could learn a lot about things that I in my white middle age-ness am not even aware.

And the Louisana Purchase -- never meant more to me than the answer I needed for a quiz in grade school. He opened my eyes about how much I DON'T know of our history

When the student is ready...
