A humble request for Dean supporters (and others) |
|
Howard Dean started a revolution in politics. His fire and passion have caused myself and hundreds of thousands of Americans to go far beyond our "comfort zones" to support a candidate. Through his revolutionary campaign efforts, I found myself donating money to a campaign for the first time, joining the volunteer meet-up groups and writing letters to total strangers in other states to get them excited about the campaign and to vote out *.
My friends, it is time for us to write one more letter each, not to a stranger, but to a friend.
Write a letter to Howard Dean at Dean for America headquarters. Ask your friends and meet up participants to write their own letters. Tell him what this campaign has meant to you and to America. thank him for his efforts to take back our country and our party. Most of all, if you have not yet voted, let him know you will still vote for him.
Howard Dean has worked so hard and sacrificed so much during this campaign. Don't let his efforts go without him knowing what he has meant to his supporters, his party, and his country.
Thank you, one and all for fighting the good fight. As Howard said today, our fight shall continue

And sent this little book to the campaign, several weeks ago. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/0345341848/qid=1077129732//ref=sr_8_xs_ap_i1_xgl14/104-6736443-5290359?v=glance&s=books&n=507846Anyone who understands its premises will understand why Dean couldn't have won the nomination, and possibly/probably the election. They will also understand why his campaign was enabled by the net, where the internet strategy of the others fell flat. Dean wasn't playing to win. He was playing to keep the game in play. And for that, he is a hero.

Please vote Dean in the Primaries.
It's the least that we can do.
For the GE, the choice is yours, and yours alone.

3. I hope he withholds any endorsement |

The good fight cannot be a good fight if it ends in capitulation. Either, as Dean famously claimed, his campaign was about clearing out the cockroaches, or it was only about saying so.
Thus far the web site message is a good one: this party needs change. It needs a good top-to-bottom scouring. It cannot be a beacon of promise while dim bulbs run it in behalf of corporate wealth and military conquest.
Thus the message of reform -- seldom pleasant, always likely to attract umbrage, ever necessary in a democratic republic.

4. If we can't do it top-to-bottom, then we need to do it bottom-to-top |
