Barack Obama: Hillary Seeks to be an Extention of the First Clinton Presidency
Democratic Presidential candidate and Senator Barack Obama contends that his opponent, Senator Hillary Clinton, is out to preserve the Clintons as the "dominant political family in the Democratic Party."

Says Senator Obama to the Associated Press, "They want to make the argument that Senator Clinton is just an extension of the Bill Clinton presidency."

"My belief," counters Obama, "is that the American people are looking for a fundamental break from the way we've been doing business."

Also, Obama touts his consistent opposition to the United States' occupation of Iraq, as opposed to Sen. Clinton's changing views and continued willingness to fund the occupation.

Excerpts:

This week marks the fifth anniversary of a speech Obama gave in 2002 opposing the Iraq war, and he'll spend the week revisiting that address and discussing the foreign policy challenges he says it has created.

Obama's campaign on Sunday also announced that it had surpassed 350,000 donors for the year, a significant feat at this stage in any campaign. In a letter to supporters, Obama campaign manager David Plouffe said the donors represented more than 500,000 donations. At midyear, the campaign had reported getting contributions from more than 250,000 individual donors, meaning that about 100,000 new donors contributed to him during the past three months.

37. Funny for someone hiring all of Bush's operatives to run his campaign
laughable he would use those words. Obama is the ultimate extension of the Bush Presidency. Touting he is related by blood and now by direct association with former and current operatives that put Bush in the White House.

3. he has learned the republican way of fighting: set up a straw man and
then knock it down. I am not even sure what that means "the dominant family" except to equate Clinton with Bush. And, I can see from the posts that people buy it without really thinking it through.

Edwards did the same thing earlier arguing that Clinton got her health plan out after he did, as if that means anything.

40. Obama is a shill for the Republicans..
I guess you've noticed how his message has changed. Rather than articulating his platform, plank by plank, comparing himself to Edwards and Clinton and selling himself as having better ideas. He's taken the low road, attack by degradation which, as you've pointed out is the Republican style of Triangulation. His new politics, same old politics.

Guess what Barack...you're not fooling anybody.

4. He's right, of course...Hill is running on Bill's presidency, nothing more
after all, what are her achievements as an elected official? And it's not as if her personal charm and/or her ability to inspire people is a selling point either.

5. It is precisely this type of campaigning that tells me
He is not ready to be president.
And I no longer think he would be a good vice president.
So I'm suggesting to Hillary that she not select him.

He is going down in my estimation as a dirty campaigner. He is too desperate, and not experienced enough, and I know that many of you are just as desperate as he is and will flame me. I don't care. Flame away.

He just isn't ready.

And, you're right that Hillary won't select Obama as her running mate.

Obama will be the nominee, not Hillary.

28. Your post has some merit....
I listen to talk radio at night, and have been surprised that many people calling in are very angry with BO. A few months ago he seemed to have a lot of momentum....I'm not sure what is going on, but it is showing up in the polls!

32. You're right!!!
If only he had a spouse that was also a former President. Then he could send that spouse out as his attack dog and try to convince people that he was above the fray. That would be awesome.

6. Obama says the obvious truth behind the Clinton campaign
If Hillary Clinton could run on her own, she would have asked her husband to take a back seat and let her be herself. That is impossible with her candidacy the way they spin it now.

People are seeing it now as they are becoming interested in the primary races.

And hey you! Good to see you at the Farmers Market!

24. From my point of view, the 90's weren't that hot. My town saw factory after factory close.
Wages went stagnant. I had a hell of a time finding work when my youngest entered kindergarten. I kept waiting for the child tax credit to kick in, but my kids aged out of it before it took full effect and I never did see the assistance with college costs that Bill talked about in 1992. Bill may have been better than Bush1 or Bush 2, but that's a pretty low standard.

25. Many Sunday pundits think she's going to extend the Bush policy.
Seriously, I understand she's a girl and has to look like a hard-ass and all, but dayum ... it's tough reminding myself she's running the general election now in the primary but that's because she scares the crap out of me sometimes.

30. Hillary is Bill with torture powers...
and powers of arrest and detention without charge, massive domestic spying, the president writing his/her own laws and invading any vulnerable country without provocation.

Really. When you think about it.

Seattle '99 all over again, only this time it won't be just 18 hours in a police bus without food, water or toilets, it could be weeks, months, years in a dark dungeon; it won't be just false charges against innocent people, when it was the police who rioted (I know, I was there), it will be false charges of "terrorism" and no phone call; and it won't be just cs gassing downtown Seattle, and beatings with billy clubs, and teargas hosing of peaceful, seated demonstrators, it will be...well, who knows what they've got prepared for rebellious Americans?

Yup, Bush-Cheney have been dauntless pioneers of the fascist state, for the final looting and mopup by our corporate predator rulers, under Empress Hillary. Clever.

Not that I'm an Obama fan. They're all running for emperor, as far as I can see (except Kucinich, and possibly Edwards). She's just more seeable--and the likely "made" candidate.

Shes got two things - her sex and her husband. She offers nothing else, except more war.

The Hillary supporters attacking him for defending himself are the ones that should be embarrassed. They support a candidate because of who she is married too. That is what's pathetic.
