Hillary's Cackle: Utterly Endearing (YouTube)
Having heard the phrase "Hillary's cackle," I immediately had to go to YouTube to find out what the long-term consequences of this potential phenomenon might be. Could it be the next Dean Scream-Botched Joke-Macaca Moment? I had to find out.

Sure, it goes against every principle of political decency I hold dear, but I too cannot resist the dulcet siren call of YouTube's inimitable dishes of schadenfreude. (How's that for a cocktail of mixed-metaphors and dime-store SAT words?)

Well, in any case, I went. And I did find a few rather boring examples thrown up by some less-than-clever conservatives.

But one less-than-clever conservative put this quickie up there, and I think it is totally worth a visit:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4YIX4C2V5w8

Now, I'm hardly the biggest Clinton supporter in the Underground-o-sphere, but I replayed this 8 second clip about 20 times and found it not only really funny, but also very charming (much like the "I'm your girl" comment, only more spontaneous.)

Whatever our differences may be on this still-very-fluid race, I think we can all get a giggle out of this one.

Thanks, less-than-clever conservative!

1. her laugh is sort of like this one I heard in a movie where a girl and her dog is swept away by
a tornado and the house lands on the body of this one wicked lady. Hillary's laugh reminds me of her sister who resided in the west with some flying monkeys.

4. The haters have finally found an irrelevant physicality to focus upon.
I'm grateful we've moved on from her hair.

The Hillary "cackle" is the equivalent of the Dean "scream," isn't it?

32. What's good for the goose
Is good for the gander. I suggest no one attack Hillary because she has a laugh that makes it easy to poke fun at. At least not when your own candidate is named Hussein. It is not as if the repubs won't make hay of that fact if he ever got the nomination (which is most doubtful).

31. Strange when Hillary's "cackle" is an acceptable target for criticism?
To allow a physical characteristic to be used for fun and criticism, specially by people who should know better (here on DU), yet pointing out a candidates middle name makes one have "prejudices"...strange isn't it? How is mentioning his middle name prejudicial? It is not as if I made it up. To say that Hillary "cackles"is a sexist and misogynistic ploy used by repubs and her crazed detractors. No one makes fun of the way a male laughs or giggles or guffaws, but for some strange reason it is fine to poke fun at the way Hillary (a woman) laughs. If it is open season on Hillary for her "laugh" then goddess-forbid any other candidate have anything else they can be criticized for. Because what ever it is, I assure you, it will be done so.

Or are you brain addled and do not understand why I responded to the post and my reasons for doing so?

36. Speaking of 'brain-addled' - perhaps you should go back and read the posts again.
You addressed this response to me. Most of it is objecting to people calling Hillary's laugh
a "cackle." What I said in my post was that her laugh doesn't sound anything like a cackle and that, in fact,
I think it's very cute. Don't know who you meant to address those comments to, but they obviously
do not apply to me.

Secondly, if you think people are wrongly vilifying your candidate of choice, why would you turn around and
wrongly try to vilify someone else's candidate of choice? You can't validly criticize someone's behavior
and then behave the same way yourself, expecting approval. It invalidates your criticism entirely.

42. Actually, my original post on this thread was to a post by Illinoisprogressive...
My post was NOT made to you. I don't know if brain addled is the correct term to apply but you obviously have trouble reading. There would certainly appear to be a problem in that area. You responded to a post I wrote to Illinoiprogressive and wondered if I knew Obama's first name. I do know his first name AND his second name. If you have issues with his second name, I suggest you take it up with him.

HRC is not my candidate. I have never said she is. I just find it funny that someone would make fun of the way she laughs. If you have a problem with that, so be it. It is no skin off my nose. If Hussein Obama is YOUR candidate of choice I suggest that YOU might find something positive to say about him and stop being so defensive about his middle name.

:hi:

Kucinich smells like (organic!) garlic, Obama is prone to belch and Biden shreds a lot of hair (yuck) on people... oh and Edwards bent over once and reveled in a most unseemly plumper's smile. Jeebus what a bunch of losers.

15. Find the one where she laughs in Gravel's face
when he criticizes her over her Iran vote. Maybe then you'll get what people are talking about. This one, of itself, is the perfect response to a stupid question. War with Iran is not a stupid question.

I haven't heard it (I have no TV, never thought I'd be one of those DUers!). Just figured it was her laughing in a sort of straight-faced way. But wow, that clip, maybe the volume was modified but it sounded awful. Dean-screamesque. Like she was insane haha. Wow.

18. Her campaign is definitely going to tell her to stop cackling. I'm looking at other clips on youtub
now. It is not endearing and makes it seem like she is some giggly school girl. When asked a serious question it is fine to smile and give a brief "ha" but an all out cackle is tacky.

38. I think they did that with her head nods which annoyed me.
But that could be because she reminded me of someone I didn't like who would nod just the way she did. She's greatly reduced her nodding, I have noticed.

HRC will probably make a joke about the laugh in the next debate. Watch for it!

22. This is too much like the hair comments about Edwards, the sighs of Gore, and the scream of Dean.
I don't think this is really an avenue we on the left should be pursuing against anyone, but especially our own candidates.I do see why it bothers people that she seems to use it as deflection, but I still think it's a very, very minor thing.

Hillary is just the target of their ire or ridicule because she is doing well now...

As for the laugh or cackle I assure you it will disappear, as you suggested ,if it's deemed to be ineffective...

28. HRC Laugh/Cackle?
Yes, let us examine the meaning of the laugh. Is it calculated? Designed to disarm? Meant as a gesture of disrespect? What color was her outfit while she laughed? What kind of shoes was she wearing? Did she show too much cleavage? These are the burning questions of our day. Who cares about policy? Geez, will the media NEVER stop this stupidity?

40. Watch the whole interview
I agree that Hillary's first laugh on FOX was an appropriate response.

You can see the whole interview here:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I2DUj5INniM

The problem is that she is laughing too loud and too often, also at inappropriate times, like when she is asked a question about a serious issue. Not just on FOX, but also on the other networks, and also during the MSNBC debate last week.

Jon Stewart called her on this last week. The video is no longer on The Daily Show website but you might find it on YouTube.
