I responded to a post with an comment about Edwards that I like so much, I impressed myself. |
|
So here it goes.
Edwards is like a running back, pounding the line, yard by yard, working to gain first downs.
We are barely in the 3rd quarter of this game, and to declare a winner is premature.
Because Edwards spent more than 20 years actually working, his work serves him well in this effort, and this country will benefit when he is President.
His work required that he understand his opponents, plan the strategy with the facts at hand, do research, and argue the law.
Without a doubt he was successful, and for those who do not support him, and think he is running for President without a strategy, is to underestimate him and the strong team he has put together.
The jury is out. This game is far from over, just watch.

3. I read that John Edwards was a quarterback, back in High School. |
|
Compare and contrast with George W. Bush - who was a cheerleader.
I think there is some kind of a message in there ... :eyes:

I'm thoroughly unimpressed. We don't need a running back, or a quarterback, or even a coach. We need a team.
This ain't some phucking game for arrested adolescents.

are taken apart and analyzed.

9. Metaphors are seldom understood by those who do not live their lives by them. |
|
Also, those who choose to front their arguments by dismissing the context, seldom achieve Nirvana.
"In cognitive linguistics, conceptual metaphor refers to the understanding of one conceptual domain in terms of another, for example, understanding time in terms of space (e.g. "time flies"). A conceptual domain can be any coherent organization of experience. This idea, and a detailed examination of the underlying processes, was first extensively explored by George Lakoff and Mark Johnson in their work Metaphors We Live By. Other cognitive scientists study subjects similar to conceptual metaphor under the labels "analogy" and "conceptual blending."
We ARE in the game.... 4th quarter starts in 90 days.....
Winning requires many strategies, just ask the Detroit Lions about their 4th quarter winning stats yesterday.
