Biden For President Announces Five New Political Endorsements In South Carolina
October 1st, 2007 by Erin Medlicott
Oct. 1: Democratic presidential candidate U.S. Sen. Joe Biden picked up five additional political endorsements today while campaiging through South Carolina. At a press conference this afternoon in front of the State Capitol, Rep. James A. Battle, Jr. and Rep. Vida O. Miller publicly announced their endorsement of Biden’s 2008 presididential candidacy. Biden now has the backing of six SC State Representatives.

Also pledging their support of Sen. Biden for president were W.B. Wilson of the Williamsburg County Council, Wilhelmina Pegues of the Bennettsville City Council and Steve Summers, Treasurer of Orangeburg.

“Sen. Biden has the necessary experience to tackle the tough issues that affect us here and also abroad,” said Rep. Battle. “I am proud to support Sen. Biden’s campaign.” Rep. Battle represents District 57, Marion County, and serves on the Ways and Means Committee.

Sen. Biden noted the importance of today’s endorsements. “I appreciate the support of these outstanding public servants and with their help I know that we will prevail here in South Carolina,” said Sen. Biden.

“Sen. Biden has shown great leadership during his time in the Senate and most recently with his plan for Iraq. He will be a great Commander-in-Chief,” commented Rep. Miller. She represents District 31, Spartanburg, and serves on the Education & Public Works, and Invitations & Memorial Resolutions Committees.

6. He adds those five to this list
a number of respected current and former elected officials throughout South Carolina have also endorsed Sen. Biden. They include: Orangeburg Treasurer Steve Summers; Richland County Sheriff Leon Lott; Pickens County Councilman Jim London; Union County Clerk of Court Brad Morris; Richland County Councilman Damon Jeter; Former Lt. Governor Mike Daniel; Former Richland County Treasurer Tom Elliott; and, former Richland County Council Chairman Tony Mizzell.

Not bad for a guy that has so far only concentrated on Iowa.

Go Joe!
