Blackwater Just Didn't Come On To The Scene Yesterday - Why Then..... |
|
are all the progressive and left wing and cable news networks just beginning to talk about it like it was created yesterday? Where were they when Blackwater began to get these no-bid contracts? Where were they when our government declared that they were immune from any laws in Iraq? Maybe if they would have spoke up sooner - the American people would have been tipped off to what was really going on with *Co and privatization and war profiteering.
Isn't this too little too late?
And by next week - Blackwater will be old news. Just like - Rove, Scooter, Gonzo, Abu Gharab, WMD, etc, etc, etc.

People will be more interested in Britney and Kevin's divorce, who keeps the kids, will she go into re-hab, etc. Priorities :sarcasm:

2. Blackwater threads are no stranger here at DU |
|
Nor have they been ignored throughout the left side of the intertubes.
Yes, the media is just now picking up the story, and yes they will drop it soon enough.
We are now a country which routinely talks about invading and bombing other countries at our whim, a country which tortures prisoners and a country which sends out death squads to do our bidding. A tough concept to grasp isn't it.

3. This is a very good point.... I remember when Kerry was overheard |
|
by a microphone left on after a campaign speech he gave to a group of supporters. He refereed to the current group of administration folks as a "bunch of criminals". I know we didn't hear about it to often, but there was another government worker who questioned this no bid process-her name was Bunny.

4. Because of the 17 people killed, 24 severely injured last month ... |
|
in an appalling incident in a Baghdad Square. (Eyewitness accounts today on the front page of the NYT, and it is so horrendous you can barely read it.). And because the Iraqi government, after investigating, told them to get out of Dodge.
So that is why these investigations are happening now. Perhaps they should have happened before, but realistically speaking, it always takes a major incident to spark both Congressional and media interest. As the French say, mieux vaut tard que jamais.

5. Blackwater is a taxpayer-funded private army |
|
Actually they're being paid your grandkids' tax dollars, but the end result is that Prince has used that money to build an army accountable to no one which could, tomorrow, turn on us. They are immune to any law. Aren't you delighted at how the GOP is running this country?
