It will tarnish his legend and make him look foolish - again.
Primarily, Rather contends in State Supreme Court in Manhattan that CBS violated his contract by failing to provide him with a sufficient amount of airtime on "60 Minutes" after forcing him out as the anchor of the "CBS Evening News" in March 2005. According to the suit, CBS attempted to "pacify the White House" after a controversial 2004 report on President Bush's Texas Air National Guard service, for which Rather later apologized.
