Sadly, nothing
That seems to be the response to a questino raised in another thread, "What does it take to impeach these bastards"?

I swear, if impeachment is not for situations like these then what is it for?

The list goes back so far, that even the earlier impeachable stuff seems minor by comparison. The only thing they've got going for them is that they commit new ones so fast, the prior ones seem like old news.

False war rationale, torture, war crimes, cronyism, profiteering, (sigh) it's too early in the morning for me to come up with a list...

I wish, I WISH, the worst I could accuse Bush of would be of getting blow job while in office.

Sadly, it seems that instead, we're the ones getting #&$*(%R in the ass.

3. When the crimes are cataloged and place in front of
our Senators and the American people in black and white, the votes would be there.

4. Impeachment has been turned into a political game.
In normal times, everyone, including repukes, would be advocating for the bushes Impeachment. But in today's unethical environment, Impeachment has been turned into a joke.

The Impeachment of Clinton was nothing but a political game for the repukes. The fall out for those who pushed for Impeachment of a president, who had consensual sex with an intern who came on to him, was limited to those who scorned Clinton while having affairs of their own. But Clinton was still permanently labeled as immoral in minds of the public.

The Democratic party should play the same game. The media would not ignore it. It will be all over the news for months. All the illegal crap the bushes have been doing will be in the public's face. I honestly don't believe Democratic Senators and Representatives have similar crimes on their tally sheets. If they do, they will be smeared like the Newt was smeared and they would deserve it.

But the up side is that the bushes would forever be labeled as immoral and criminal even if the Senate does not vote in favor of it.

5. Impeachment doesn't mean removal from office
It's more like an indictment.

Yeah, the thing with Clinton was political bullshit, pure and simple. It was manufactured and maneuvered.

Forgetting the abuse of the process with Clinton, impeachment was made expressly for intransigience like now. I wanted to enumerate the scandals and I just couldn't - there are just so, so many. It could be Cheney refusing to submit audits, it could be lying about the Iraq war, it could be refusing to testify under oath about anything, it could be illegal or questionably legal stuff from the signing statements to war criminality to torture, to not upholding the constitution. I know Henry Waxman or Harry Reid are keeping a list - it would take me weeks to go through all the postings and compile an even partial list of abuses.

THIS IS WHAT IMPEACHMENT IS FRICKIN' FOR! For God's sake, at least do a gddamn impeachment hearing! Everyone's so gddamn afraid, like we'll bring back the bad memories of the last Clinton years. Well, the last Clinton years as regards impeachment were a farce - that's why we don't want to do a faux impeachment. But this is the real thing. Again, I ask, if impeachment wasn't meant for stuff like this, what is it meant for?

Nancy Pelosi, I don't know if they have pictures of you in your underwear cavorting with ferrets or what, but your failure to even consider this as an option is appalling. This should be the NUMBER ONE priority. Not SCHIP (as important as that is), not anything else, but restoring the sense of law and order to this country, the sense of Constitutionality, the sense of balance of power, the sense that it is STILL OUR COUNTRY.

ALL the other shit can wait. Before we get to any of that, I want the warm and fuzzies to know that we still actually run our country. Us. The little people. Only then can we do the things that need to be done.
