Smackdown! Minnesota Style..... Judge Porter to Larry Craig

"The defendant chose to not appear and to enter his plea by mail just so he could avoid any
such publicly .....

In refuting almost every claim put forward by Craig's legal team, Porter wrote that Craig's
actions in making the guilty plea were well thought out and a planned attempt to shield
himself from the public scrutiny of his crime, which would have likely come to light if he
pleaded not guilty and fought the charges at a trial.

"The defendant chose to not appear and to enter his plea by mail just so he could avoid any
such publicly (sic), of record, inquiry into his conduct," Porter wrote, underling the last portion
of his sentence for emphasis. "He kept many of the facts out of the record in so doing. He
cannot now complain that he should not have allowed to take advantage of an approved method
to enter a misdemeanor plea."

1. Judge Porter is regarded as a very no-nonsense judge
by the bar here in Minnesota.

3. All I know is that he has a reputation for brooking no non-sense
Couldn't tell you anything about his political persuasions, all I know is that if you've got a case before him, you'd best have your ducks in a row and quacking in perfect harmony.

6. thanx.
In other words he might say, "Ah excuse me consular but are you ready with your case?"

I am a landscaper but some of his ruling was great ..... in a nutshell in MN to throw out
a guilty plea you need A, B, & C and I don't see anything there.

BTW Craig wants to fight it out now infront of the Senate Ethics Committe ...
You go Larry!

4. I sort of have a problem

with a judge thinking that he can look into another man's mind
and tell what he was thinking and why he did what he did. and
I think I have a bigger problem with a judge that thinks it makes
a difference.

just because it suits my political purposes, and pokes a stick
in a rethug's eye doesn't make me compromise on that principle.
