Wow! The comments following the Matthews article in the Examiner are scary!
Matthews statement that the Clinton Admin
never pressured him" touched off a flame fest. This is an example of the anti Clinton hatred that really exists and what Hillary will face if she is nominee! And some of the comments are actually the truth albeit slanted. Clinton did have a GQ article that was unflattering squashed as well as complained about the Path to 9-11.I look at the GQ business as a "campaign issue" having nothing to do with the Clinton Admin and "Path" was a bunch of obnoxious lies and propaganda but that is not how it looks to the "other side". The vitriol and hate is palpable. Link to article and comments below:

1. Yeah for eight years the media never poked and prodded Bill Clinton
about anything. He must have stifled them.

Isn't it amazing that Clinton wasn't able to "silence" the media on Monica?

4. I think Hillary is well schooled
in the instant response. Senator Kerry was too kind to kick some lying asses right away. I like Hillary but I do believe her bitch streak will rise very high when the arrows start sailing. However I do believe the religious right is in quite a funk this year and not necessarily primed to endlessly and hatefully attack her. Ya know, the christian thing to do.

Who is this Monica you are referring to and what is her connection to Big Dog?

16. I was a student
Edited on Fri Oct-05-07 02:32 PM by BOSSHOG
at the University of Arkansas when he was a Law Professor. They had a modest little home near campus and she nor he were uppity back then, just part of a college community. I interned for a TV station when he was governor and had the opportunity to interview him. He could not possibly have been friendlier or more accomodating. Certainly a guy I'd like to have a beer with.

12. And for the last 16 they still """HAVEN'T" SLURRED AND SLAMMED
both Hillary and Bill. Jealousy shows...you see it in the republicans they way they went after the Clintons and in the way some of the other democratic candidate supporters are going after Hillary now.

As Matthews himself said, not unusual.

as well as complained about the Path to 9-11.

Uh huh. Because it was a bunch of shit. But if you want to see an example anti Obama hatred that really exists and what Obama will face if she is nominee, go to any conservative outlet and read the reactions to the flag pin story.

Here, I'll provide an example:

http://www.conservativeunderground.com/forum/showthread.php?t=108534&highlight=Obama

I bet the troops just love him. What an asshat.

He needs something that reflects his character some more...maybe a crescent moon, or a scimitar with "Messenger of Allah" in Arabic enscribed upon it?

I think he should wear the pin of the flag he truly believes in - the Palestinian flag.

The final nail in his campaign.....what a loser.

Keep pandering to the wrong group, idiot.

ANYONE who thinks only Hillary will get it from the rightwing is delusional.

6. Did I say only Hillary will get it from the RW? But no question there are
years of hatred built up for the Clinton's. They are only just beginning the dossier on the other candidates.

10. Thanks for the link. Those cretins just remind me that they do exist
and their hatred knows no bounds. From time to time I visit freerepublic.com just for a wake up call to reality.

to give it to the right. You'll never hear them say what will the liberals say or do about their candidates. No wonder they call us bed wetters.

7. You're right but in all honesty
it doesn't matter one bit who our nominee is. The swiftboating assholes that are the repuke party and their supporters will attack whoever comes out as the Democratic Presidential candidate. The smears that John Kerry endured at the hands of the party of morality were every bit as bad as the smears that those pricks hit Bill Clinton with.

We can't fool ourselves into believing that if we nominate someone other than Clinton the nutjobs will stay home. The nutjobs IMO live to smear anyone but the annointed on their side.

I think we have to be ready for it and we have to hit them, if not first, at least back harder than they hit us. If Clinton isn't the nominee we can't be caught with our pants down like a Republican Senator in a mens room.

13. I mostly agree but I do believe more anti Clinton nutjobs will turn out if we
nominate Hillary.

which featured a heated exchange with host Jon Stewart...Matthews was steadfast in his belief that the debate left Stewart crestfallen, and Matthews victorious."

But I think Chris is being deliberately misunderstood. Of course he means that while Bill Clinton may have interfered with the press a couple of times, the Bush White House does it as a matter of policy.

18. You Casual Observer are correct. They have no wear to
go. Listen to Pat Buchanan crap his pants over Larry Craig. He always brings up Barney Frank. As a card caring devote' of Barney Frank let me tell you he didn't solicit stuff in the mens room. He did not let outsiders know he was gay but he also didn't lie about it. But buchanan always wants to put him in the toilet with whoever is doing wrong in the repuke party. God that man should not be on TV. The people at MSNBC treat him like a real knowledgeable person.

15. I think Matthews was pointing out that the Bush ADM
actually tried to control the content of his TV Program through
pressuring the Network.

He indicated the Clinyton ADM never did that sort of thing.

We know Donohue lost his show because of his content having
anti-war stands. Think about the number of Journalists
accross the country who havw lost their jobs during GWB reign.
