Lieutenant General Claudia Kennedy visits Vet Transition centers in NH

Lieutenant General Claudia Kennedy is the first woman in the U.S. Army to hold a three-star rank.



Many of our nation's veterans are invisible to President Bush. From the neglect of Walter Reed Medical Center to the growing population of homeless vets, the past eight years have not been kind. I was privileged to be able to campaign for Senator Hillary Clinton in New Hampshire this week.

On Thursday I toured Buckingham Place in Nashua. Buckingham Place is a beautiful new transitional living facility operated by Harbor Homes. It just opened last spring, and it now has over 20 residents. But there is still a much larger waiting list of vets who may not be getting the help they need. I talked to vets from two wars, Vietnam and Iraq, who have often not gotten the help they need and who have been let down by the country they served, and I was reminded that, as great as places like Buckingham Place are, we need to do more.

On Friday we took in a presentation by the caring staff at Liberty House in Manchester.....
