Sen. John Ensign (R-NV), GOP campaign committee chair, begs Craig to please just f**king GO already

WASHINGTON — Facing untimely resignations, an unpopular war and a troubling 2008 election landscape, Senate Republicans didn't need another headache this week. But they got one anyway when Sen. Larry Craig vowed Thursday to serve out the last 15 months of his term, despite a court ruling that left intact his guilty plea in a sex sting operation. The Idaho Republican's decision gives his GOP colleagues two unpleasant choices. They can resume pressuring him to leave, and risk being seen as disloyal politicians who go harder on alleged homosexual misdeeds than on heterosexual wrongdoings. Or they can basically ignore him for months, and endure more TV comics' taunts about a conservative senator convicted in a case involving public bathroom stalls.

But his continued presence in the Senate obviously annoys Republicans facing tough campaigns in a year in which GOP scandals are emerging as a Democratic theme.

"Senator Craig gave us his word" that he would resign by Sept. 30 if he could not overturn the guilty plea, said Sen. John Ensign, R-Nev., who chairs the GOP campaign committee overseeing next year's Senate elections. "I wish he would stick to his word."

"It's embarrassing for the Senate, it's embarrassing for his party," Ensign said. Asked if Craig's staying would be a distraction for the party, Ensign said: "It may be a personal distraction for me."

1. Cue Violins.....
STAY STRONG LARRY. Don't let these guys tell you what to do.

Go right ahead and serve out your term. It's important that you stand up for your rights, and not let the bullies win.

2. Hey Ensign,
Vitter's an embarrassment, too. Why aren't you asking him to "go away."

Stick to your wide stance, Larry.

3. He's been stifled over the last several months, so when he does go, it'll be a fountain.

"I wish he would stick to his word."

Imagine anyone expecting a Republican to stick to his word!

Personal distraction? Can't stop thinking about it can you? Bummer. May images of dear Larry be the last thing you think of before you go to sleep and the first thing on your mind when you wake up.

10. I'm thinking John wishes he had just stuck to playing vet while raking
in Daddy's gambling bucks. And he's not smart enough to solve this problem, either. He's just a pretty face. When the Repukes go down to their biggest defeat in history next year, they are taking John with them, and I will be celebrating bigtime!!!

Hey, John! You freaks made your beds there, now you get to lie in them!!!! Bwahahahahahaha!!!!!

(Disclaimer: personal bias. John Ensign was one of my students in vet school, when I was a teaching assistant my senior year)

12. He's just "Stalling"
Larry said he was guilty. Then said he wasn't.

Larry he said he was resigning. Then said he wouldn't.

Now Larry he says he won't be running for re-election in 2008. Since he has a knack for doing a complete 180, keeping us in stitches at every turn, I take this latest "pledge" from Larry as a sure sign that he'll will be back on the campaign trail in no time flat.

RUN LARRY, RUN!!!!
