Biden visits with supporters for three hours Wednesday
From the Newton Daily News:

<Democratic presidential hopeful and Delaware Sen. Joe Biden may receive a bill for rent after setting up shop at Uncle Nancy’s Coffeehouse in Newton for most of Wednesday night.

Biden, despite urging by some of his campaign workers to wrap up the event, shook hands, signed autographs, answered questions and discussed issues including the loss of American jobs for three hours.>

<“I think these people deserve real answers,” said Biden. “This is probably the most important election that they will have ever voted in so they deserve answers.”>

<Biden did earn the respect of some of the people at the event Wednesday. Dean Lane of Newton said he was impressed with Biden, especially on his Iraq policy.

“I like him a lot,” Lane said after the event. “He has the only policy on Iraq that makes any sense.”

Mark Tinnermeier of Newton said he also was impacted by Biden’s discussion, specifically with the detailed answers he gave to questions and the Senator’s willingness to stay and meet with supporters.

“I was very impressed,” said Tinnermeier, who had an opportunity to have one-on-one interaction with Biden. “He is probably the most thought out and dedicated politician I ever heard.”>

1. Biden really cares about what the people have to say. He understands that
he would be working for them, as he does for the citizens of Delaware. It's apparent he's given serious thought to the issues -- even 'unpopular' ones. I've never heard him stumped by a question, or unfamiliar with what he was being questioned about.

And he just seems like a really good person. I trust him.

4. This is old-fashioned campaigning
where the candidate really gets to connect with the voters. I've seen some of these get-togethers on video and you're right, he always as an answer and a good answer for every question he's asked. If you watch his audiences, you'll see people nodding their heads as they listen.

2. Just a regular guy - sitting around & shooting the breeze
Except the conversation is about Iraq, healthcare, education, current events :)

3. I never used to take Joe Biden too seriously
but my respect for him has grown immensely over the past few years. I can't overlook the bankruptcy bill, but I think he's dead on with regard to Iraq and foreign policy in general.

5. A DUer who lives in Delaware posted and gave her (I think it was a her) take
on the bankruptcy bill saying that a large number of people in DE are employed by the "credit card banks" and if the bill hadn't gone as it did, it would have caused severe economic hardship. In other words, he voted as his constituents wanted and needed him to.

I was pleased to hear that side because I didn't like the bankruptcy bill either.

If you're interested, click on the link from which this article is taken -- Biden is quoted on issues other than foreign policy and makes a LOT of sense - from policy changes regarding Cuba to revamping trade agreements to protect and support the American people.

I have to laugh because I paid the LEAST amount of attention to Biden when I began watching the debates, and now I'm totally convinced he would be the best choice for our next President. :7

6. I would certainly prefer him as president
over a couple of the others whose names I won't mention because I don't want to be branded a "hater." :)

7. That's cool, because we're all "lovers" here
We just tend to love some more than others, in this case MUCH more!

Through and through. We know it. And most of the people who know him know it.

11. Biden is right! Voters deserve answers to the most important election since WWII
I hope that people in the early states give the proper consideration to candidates such as Biden, instead of being star struck by the Clintons.

13. The downside of a consumer driven society
People shop for candidates the same way they shop for cars. It is all about soundbites and images.

14. Sometimes they vote for a candidate like they vote for American Idol
Edited on Sat Oct-06-07 11:11 PM by IndianaGreen
This is why instead of getting a truly talented Kelly Clarkson, we end up with a Sanjay. In political terms, instead of a Biden we get a Hillary.
