What right does the U.S. have to tell Iraq how to fix their country?
According to Biden, we don't:

He also noted the importance of engaging the international community in order to come up with a viable solution to the war in Iraq.snip
“We have no credibility so it can’t be a ‘Made in America’ solution,” Biden said.

1. What right does the U.S. have to say that to ANY country?
That is the real question.

2. No, bigger question is.. What right did the US have to attack Iraq...
in the first place? And then proceed to devastate their country and kill their people to the tune of 1,077,000 Plus..... And now try desperately to steal their oil... What right does GWB have in being in the WH in the first place? Lots of questions and no good answers!

4. Iraq is not sovereign,
In spite of everything Bush & his minions say, Iraq is a subjugated colony of the United States.

7. Iraq is an occupied nation
with a flimsy puppet government. They are not 100% sovereign yet.

12. Our actions have affected the world. I think Biden's plan to work WITH
the international community -- rather than just saying Here's what WE decided to do -- is a great step towards mending our relationships not only with Iraq, but with the all the other nations we've alienated.

As for Iraq, I'm also in agreement with Biden in that we owe the people our assistance to help them heal. We can't just split and say -- hey, good luck -- we were wrong, sorry!

I guess my point in posting this is that people view the amendment as America's next thing to do TO Iraq, but I sincerely believe Biden's approach is to work for and with Iraq to find a solution that will work for them.

8. More from what Biden said -
With that in mind, Biden said if elected he will focus on developing better foreign relations to not only solve the problems in Iraq, but to deal with other countries like Iran, Venezuela and North Korea.

“We have no credibility in the world. We have no one to cooperate with us in the world because they think our judgment is horrible,” said Biden.

Biden also was asked if he would make any policy changes regarding the long-standing embargo on Cuba.

“The policy in Cuba has to change,” he said. “Castro is gonna die, probably under the next president, and what follows after Castro matters and instead of engaging them we have a Cuban policy — no, we don’t have a Cuban policy, we have a Castro policy — and we need a new one.”

go Joe!:toast:

14. Oh boy, do we. That's why I'm so supportive of Biden's plan. I believe his
intent is good and he wants to do what's right for the Iraqis, and to do what's right for our troops - bring them home.

15. I've been out of the loop, politically, for a couple of years
and am now just catching up. Lots of reading to do!
Biden impresses me more and more all the time. I always knew he was smart, he just seems really driven these days.

16. Driven and committed:
Biden said some people have questioned why he would want to take office.

“’Why in Lord’s name would you want to be president right now?’ And the truth of the matter is if you ever wanted to be president this is the single greatest moment to be president because literally the next president has the opportunity to change the direction of the world. They are looking at us to get this world back on track.”

And welcome to DU! :hi:

20. :) Thanks! Its a new ID but i've been around a while.
It's probably the greatest and worst moment to be president, all at the same time. And I dont think too many of them are really up to the task.
If he's not the nominee I can see several places where he would be indispensable.

17. I think he believes he can really fix the mess left by this administration.
As someone who endorsed him today said "He is the right man and the right time".

Biden has been in my top three for a while now. He's always been a hard worker, but he really seems to be stepping up lately.

18. We have a right to tell them what to do because they have oil and we want it
we are a superpower, they are a piddly nation we sanctioned, bombed, and otherwise completely destroyed. When two groups have such a imbalance of power, laws and contracts become meaningless, as our nation has proven over and over and over again.
