I have a problem. I like both Clinton and Obama.
I like them for different reasons. I'll start with Clinton.

I like Clinton because she's experienced working in the White House and will be ready to from day one. She knows how the Presidency operates, because she's lived it. She's a proven fighter against the Republican smear machine. She will bring in a great team with a proven track record. I believe she will be very effective at getting things done in Washington. She knows how to work the system to get things done.

I like Obama because he makes me hope that we can rise above the current system and do better. He makes me feel less cynical, and yet I'm cynical still there is more to his campaign than just "hope." I'd like to know more about what he would do in Washington that would be different than Clinton. And, I'm not convinced he could do as good a job fighting the Republican smear machine as Clinton. I think he could be attacked as naive and inexperienced in the general election. That concerns me. I wish he could convince me otherwise, however. But as of now, he hasn't quite done so. I want to believe, but....I'm not convinced. Some days I feel closer to being convinced than other days though. I'll keep watching Obama and see if he does anything more to convince me.

In the meantime, I'll keep supporting Clinton. Either one would make a fine President. Frankly, my first priority at this point is which one has the best chance of defeating the Republican nominee, and in my gut I feel it's Clinton.

1. I like all the Democrats myself.
Any one of them would mean massive changes to our nation's foreign and domestic policies for the better. The thing I like most about them is . . . they're each rational.

2. You're in California?
What is the lay of the land there?

I ask because I used to have to vote in Texas and my vote never really seemed to matter.

I'm glad you are anguishing over such great candidates, though.

4. I'm in the bay area, and Obama seems to have a lot of support here.
Statewide polls I've seen show Clinton with a substantial lead.

12. Easier than you think
I see no conflict when it comes to electibility. Clinton has so much baggage behind her, that she continues to drag around, you will need a steam roller that can climb a mountain to get over it. You can bet your last dollar that the Rethugs will drag it all out too...on the table...with embellishments. From fraud to murder, it will all be out there. It's a carte blanche card for the Rethugs and it's gonna be a disaster from the gate!! They are currently remaining pretty quiet.. as it's their best wish she win the nomination...and our worst nightmare!!

Obama is gonna present them some hard times, looking for something to smear him with. They have to be extremely careful to avoid anything that even sounds racist, thus the eggshells are gonna be out there.

As for Clinton, it's gonna be a garbage dump...

13. They've been throwing that crap at Clinton
for 15 years, and none of it has stuck.

They will attack ANY democratic candidate. We KNOW what they'll use against Clinton, and the american people have long-ago decided it's crap.

14. Except every bit of her baggage is old, tired rehash.
Nobody's been investigated like the Clintons. AND THEY COULDN'T FIND A THING.

However, it's possible Obama could still surprise us. Personally, I think he's a straight shooter but that never stopped the swiftboaters.

So the "baggage" argument is more a plus than a minus. Next?

16. The easiest and most obvious way to empower the GOP and help them get out the vote...
Run against...not one... but two Clintons.

It's an RNC wet dream. Anyone who doesn't think so is not worth discussing actual political thought. It's like saying it won't be cold in Minnesota in the winter.

15. My twenty-something daughter says a Clinton/Obama candidacy
would be "awesome."

Maybe she's right. Are there any Hillary supporters who would not vote for her if he was on the ticket? I doubt it. Could he bring some extra excitement -- and possibly some reluctant-to-choose- Hillary-voters to the ticket? Probably.

17. I think that's the obvious ticket
I think a Hillary-Obama ticket would be hard to beat in part because moderates would be confronted very directly with their biases. I think the fact that most people don't want to think of themselves as racist or sexist, would make it likely that a Hillary/Obama ticket would be evaluated fairly by voters, and at this point it's hard to believe, in a fair and honest election, anyone would support any of those Republican losers.
