and Gore if he runs.
One, the Supreme Court. There is no contest here. We have had seven Supreme Court appointees by Reagan, Bush 1 or Bush 2 with two by Bill Clinton. The seven GOP appointees are O'Connor, Scalia, Kennedy, Thomas, Souter, Roberts, and Alito. Six of them are current justices. The two Clinton appointees are Ginsburg and Breyer.
The current court has two solid blocks. The liberal block consists of Ginsburg, Bryer, Souter, and Stevens. The conservative block consists of Scalia, Alito, Roberts, Thomas. Kennedy is the current swing vote who votes conservative about 2/3 of the time. Half of the liberal block are Clinton appointees, not a single, solitary conservate is one of his. The entire, whole conservative block are GOP appointees with one, a single solitary one, of the liberal block. It is positively delusional or totally dishonest, to pretend for even one second that this isn't a huge difference. Presidents have a huge, huge, huge say in who Supreme Court justices are. The Congress can moderate, as they did with both Kennedy, Souter, Breyer, and Ginsburg but they can't change direction.
Two, ENDA and hate crimes. These laws both passed Congress but will likely not survive a Presidential veto. Every single solitary Demcocrat who is running favors those laws, every single solitary GOP candidate either doesn't for sure or has waffled.
Three, S CHIP. Lives are saved by this program every single solitary day. Every single solitary Democrat running favors either this program or an even more expansive expansion of health care. Every single solitary Republican doesn't.
Four, the war. All but one GOP candidate favors either an expansion or continuation of the war. Every single solitary Democrat has set some timetable for ending the war. Some have been more agressive than others on this issue but they have all set some timeline.
Five, civil rights for both women and racial minorities. The GOP hates both women and minorities. It doesn't get worse than that. They have destroyed the Civil rights division of the Justice Department. They changed it from one of the top law firms in the country into their personal fifedom for incompetent political hacks. It is a national disgrace.
Six, Katrina. On the subject of national disgraces. The GOP let one of our great cities die and didn't do a thing about it. They sat on their behinds and let people drown and didn't even try to rebuild. Disgrace.
I could go one, but I won't.
