OK, I'm not going to deny the truth...

Hillary is my last choice for the primaries. I think she's an awful pick for many reasons. I also don't think she'll offer the change from the status quo we truly need.

She will however offer just enough of a change from things as they are now to keep this country somewhat afloat . She'll nominate relatively decent supreme court justices (I doubt we'll see her nominate Alito for example). She will likely also appoint people that will keep some oversight in check for the corporations. She won't keep pushing for tax cuts for just the wealthy.

It's VERY unlikely she'll be great, or hell even very good for that matter. But she probably won't be a complete and total disaster.

No that doesn't sound very appealing. And at a point in my life, where this country is offering little hope, she doesn't present a vision of great optimism or opportunity for the future that makes me want to really stay. Regardless though, at least even abroad, with her as president, I doubt I'd feel the shame of this country's actions. That's enough for me to vote for her. This country - and the world at large, just can't take another 4+ years of a republican presidency, especially considering the other republicans will keep just about all of Bush's policies continuing.

1. Any of our nominees will have a huge job to do patching up relations
with the rest of the world. And I think any of them are up to it, fortunately. And much of the world will be anxious to help them.

2. At what point do we take a stand if our party nominee doesn't represent
our Democratic party principles? When is enough enough?

That's why I'm not going to condemn anyone for not voting for her or voting third party, as I have in the past when people refused to vote for Gore or Kerry.

Unlike the other two, Hillary has not proven any political courage or for that matter, taken much of a stance on anything. She's the epitome of a DLC democrat - a spineless and opportunistic career politician owned by corporations. True, both of the previous candidates were also members of the DLC, but they have proven their independence from them on several occasions.

But I do know that this country is at a breaking point. We're teetering on the brink of a major crisis and I think another republican could put it over the edge. And I think Hillary will at least not take us there. While I honestly don't know what her Iraq policy will be (her statements are always so meaningless and ambivalent, she gives herself mile wide wiggle room), or for that matter have no clue what her stance has ever been, I don't believe she'll be as reckless as a republican on matters of foreign or domestic policy.

If this doesn't sound like much of an endorsement, it's not meant to be. I honestly don't think she deserves anyone's money or time (campaigning and canvassing). I also won't go out of my way to defend her. But I think the election goes beyond our party - it's about keeping the country from falling apart.

5. Exactly...An ENDORSEMENT of Bush's policies is not what I want the world to see
I hope as a nation we are better than that.

Also, while I am, very critical of the Clintons and their motives, I know that Bill Clinton is well liked abroad and can help heal the rift between the US and the rest of the world.
