She's not my first choice either, I like Gore, Edwards and/or Kucinich. However, the slander that fellow dems use against fellow dems is truly indicative of the Jerry Springer-like, or dare I say Faux News idiocy that rules most people's minds.

4. I think the anti-Clinton posts sound much more like the
pro-Nader posts than the back-and-forth comments on the 2004 candidates. At least that is the way I remember things.

Exactly. End of discussion. You are either with us or with the enemy. Now where the hell have I heard that before?

Granted, the candidate bashing gets a little tiresome when it drowns out the real discussions, but expecting all discussion against Hillary to stop would be quite unrealistic.

11. Of course repuke strategist will use against Hillary or whoever wins the nomination.
It happened in 2004 with the Kerry flip flopper meme. I believe Howard Dean used it against Kerry and the repukes ran with it.

12. UNTIL THE PRIMARIES ARE OVER ...
We NEED to be talking about who we do and don't want as our candidate.

We already know we want to beat the other party -- that's a given and doesn't need to be restated in thread after thread.

A LOT of us don't think she SHOULD be the front-runner. We should be able to discuss that here. Stop trying to shut us up.

Edited on Tue Oct-09-07 12:27 PM by John Q. Citizen
is something that the vast majority of Americans disagree with?

Or is it unfair to point out that her policy is unpopular?

"If you can't say something nice about the frontrunner, don't say anything at all."

Is that what it's come to?

edited to add- Thanks for directing my attention to that post, I just went and gave it a recommend. Scott Ritter always has an interesting take on issues. I don't always agree with him, but I do think he's worth reading.

17. Is it really slander?
Speaking of the dark side of someone as chronicled in print, congressional record, video, etc, isn't slander. If it's true, it ain't slander. It's just something that some people don't want to hear. And quite frankly, I don't want the repuke machine to get their wish of running against Hillary when there are much more desirable Dems running that will actually beat the repuke nominee.

And every time someone makes that accusation, it makes ME want to post ANOTHER criticism.

She's NOT good enough. She's pretty much the worst candidate in the field, and yet she's the front-runner.

Edited on Tue Oct-09-07 01:33 PM by flyarm
everything about each and every candidate..or are we now in to secret primaries..like secret spying on americans ..or secret wiretapping..i think we are all adult enough to read and make up our own damn minds..

and i do not think for one moment it is bashing..i am sick and tired of the 'we are bashing candidate posts"/..that is bullshit..a discussion should go on here and everywhere about each and every candidate..

if you think it is bashing ..then that is in your mind..and your problem..i think it is adult discussion, all of which has been sorely missing in this country for 6+ years!

26. I am not a basher but I have real concerns about Hillary.
I think the repukes will have a field day with her personal life and with Bill if she becomes the candidate. Polls can be skewed. How much do we know about the people being polled?

One question I'd like polled: Will you vote for a woman for President?

I don't like the fact that she voted for the war...period. I don't like that she's a DLCer. I didn't like her answer at a debate about Iran. And, if we're to believe polls, I don't like her negative (disapprove)percentage. She was last or second to last to sign to restore the Constitution when I think as the poll leader she should have had enough savvy about the American people that she would have signed first. I also don't like her non-commital policy toward troop reduction in Iraq. I would think she knows or has access to information that she could have developed to tell us more. I would have liked for her to have said, "I will put an end to this occupation asap." Instead, she wants the time to access and study while more troops die. Of course, I don't like everything about any candidate!

Some others have said here what I believe and that is: now is the time to air our dirty laundry and to put forth our best candidate. To do less may prove to be imprudent and ultimately detrimental to our causes.

30. Excellent catch.

This is a pattern I see emerging on DU. The true criticisms of Hillary are rarely addressed. First the post is attacked as a "bash" or "slander" or simply anti-Democrat. Then the posters are attacked as "socialists", "greens" (both compliments, IMHO) or "freepers".

The reason these anti-Hillary posts keep appearing is two-fold: 1) Many DU members don't support her and 2) few of her supporters provide substantive responses to genuine political criticisms of her policies and tactics.

31. Well, I guess we know where your hatchet is buried ;)
I don't mind these posts going to the greatest page. It puts them front-and-center, exposing them to even more pointed rebuttals. Leaving the Hillary-basher-bashers to talk amongst themselves may give them the false impression that more than a handful of DUers agree with them.
